Lining on the Royal Guard Robes ?????

HI there.

I’m getting my Robes professionally made. I want to get it right 1st time. I don’t want to update it again in a couple of years. ( This seems to happen too often to me. TB,SL,TD)

If the Robes is made of RED VELVET – What is it lined with? I have read that it is lined with Burgundy. But Burgundy what? Velvet ? Satin?

Thanx , Niko.

Hey Niko,
After the yoda robes run, the next project for my seamstress is a very limited run of the royal guard robes. We have already located the fabrics and have great reference for making the accurate patterns. You might want to hold off a bit and save yourself the trouble.

hey GINO, any idea what price range these robes will be? i might be interested depending on price...

Haven't gotten that far yet. I just wanted to give Niko a heads up before investing a lot of time and money in his own project.

Appears to be velvet. It doesn't reflect much light. No one has laid hands on a real robe nor has accurate designs, so I would go ahead with your project. Be sure to let us see your progress!!

Don't be so sure.
That there isn't even robe material in the archives and save for the baseless bragging of a few costumers there is no definative research done on the costume? I am sure, thanks.

Hi there.

All research that I have done leads me to belive that it is lined with a Burgundy Velvet. Unless someone knows other wise......this is what I'll use.

Thanx for the offer G. But I'm doing this as a trade. I have a MR LE Princess Leia Blaster. I'm trading this for a Royal Gaurd Robe and a Snowtrooper duster with pouches. Both professionally made. But this lady isn't into Star Wars.

So I need ALL the best info I can get. I don't want her to take any 'artistic license'. As I said - I only want to do this once.

I didnt know the movie robes were lined... do they even move enough to tell? I guess ill have to watch 3 and 6 again, Oh the agony...:lol

I have a lined robe/cloak for the EU Kir Kranos, but the costume is based on a comic. Black satin.

I would love to see what you have up your sleeve Gino, sounds good...

I'm getting my info from these pic's. I'm not sure. That is why I posted this thread. :)

The top one is from ROTJ. The second one is also from ROTJ - but a pre-production shot.

Those are about the only references there are. Besides the standup cutouts, there isn't much in the realm of ref photos. Personal gut is about all anyone can go with, sounds like you're on the right track Niko.

Is this Royal Guard screen used? I wouldn't know, but it's from the Archives and it's on display in London at the moment. :)

I need to go again to get a few close up snaps of various costume fabrics at some point, but hope this shot might help a little Niko?

It's very difficult to photograph things behind glass in low light though..

Exaclty what Gino said... That royal is a precuel one... I saw it on Lisbon as well, and there is a huge difference between that and the OT ones...

I have been studying the OT royals for a looong time, and the patter is completely different ... (off course, I love the OT one... the precuel robes looks really really weird and plane ... )

P.S. Gino, would be nice to see your Royal robes project... I may be interested pending on accuracy and price (off course) ;).

Thanx for the offer of help mate. But I'm sorry I didn't mention this in my 1st post. I'm doing an ROTJ robe.
