Lightsaber Stands - 3D Prints, Hardware, DIY

First off, apologies if this isn't in the appropriate area. Please move if it is misplaced.

I've recently developed a fascination with all of the different ways one can display a lightsaber hilt. I've dabbled with foam, wood, boxes, 3d prints, sculpting putty, vertical, horizontal, tabletop, wall mounts, so on.

I'd like to get some ideas, share some designs, and see what more we can come up with. 3d prints are always welcome. I'm also interested in stands people have thrown together with hardware, craft supplies, and things anyone can pick up at a common store.

To kick things off, here is a set of Graflex stands I am experimenting with (red is ESB, green is ANH):

I'll post more pics as I make progress. I'd love to see what others have made.

Of course I don't have any pictures handy... But a few years ago I came up with a style I like from Menards plumbing parts. I used 2 pressure caps (whatever those are) of different sizes, 4" (?) and 3" (?), glued one on top of the other for a sort of round stepped pyramid cone shaped thing... Yeah, doesn't make sense to me, either. On top of that, I glued a PVC T-connector with most of one side sawed off, so that the saber can rest in the open top.

My description is probably not helping at all. I'll have to see if I can find some pictures. Or find some of the stands and take some pictures.

Okay, here's a bad picture. http://www.freemars.org/mnfan/MarsCon/2009/2009-03-08-118.jpg The sabers at the edge of the table are sitting on them. One is black and several, barely visible, are unpainted white. Some more barely visible views of it here: https://mynerdflag.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/springcon-2014-propatorium.jpg
HAH! Here's a good one: https://www.flickr.com/photos/24502629@N04/2319864887/in/album-72157604073694894/ As long as the links work properly....

Hey ForceSensitvAL, I see what you are going for with the different widths on the GRAFLEX stands, but be mindful that if you make these out of anything rigid, the grip strips won't be able to go into the stand as you have it drawn up now unless you slide the handle into those groves in the stand sideways. And then, should you forget to slide it back out, you might tear your grip strips off of your handle if you tried to simply pull your lightsaber straight up out of its stand. You'll be O.K. with these provided you open up the outer edges of the slots for the grips to sit in.

Keep at it!

Thank you! This is definitly on the to-do list. Going to be printing one of them this week. Fingers are crossed.

I use wine racks!

also, there are these singular stands I keep finding in thrift stores, a rectangular base with two vertical pieces for the saber. I think they held glass popuree (sp?) stuff for gaudy home decorations

Any suggestions? The metal one from Ikea pops up in a lot of Google searches. I'm thinking of using a wine rack as inspiration for a custom all-wood build.

Little update. I've been playing with the stand that comes with the Obi 3D saber, with varying degrees of success:

...and now my access to a printer is in question for the foreseeable future. :( Never got to test my Graflex snug-fit stands.

Little design update. Going to do what I must to get these printed in the next couple weeks. If the printer I was using is out of bounds for good, I'll see what I can do about 3D Hubs.
