Its a promo piece for theatres. My local theatre has one on display in their lobby. Its pretty darn impressive. And quite large. Sweet piece!

Yeah, I saw one of these when we saw Pirates 3. I reached over the rope and thumped it over in a few places, and it felt pretty solid too! :thumbsup

"I reached over the rope and thumped it over in a few places, and it felt pretty solid too!"

Sweet Lord, grant me the power to overlook the nuclear innuendo emanating from that sentence! :lol

There is supposed to be one here at a local theater but I haven't seen it yet.

I have seen them at several theaters in the area. If you talk to the theater owner, perhaps you can score one after the movie is finished with its release. If the movie is anything like the first F4, then that should be pretty quick.

A friend of mine has his home theater decorated with posters and memorabilia from almost all of the major Marvel-based movies...I think this would make a great addition, if he could score it from the theater near us!

I've also seen this at a local theater in my area. Very cool! Apparently, this is a new trend in theater advertising. The same theater also has a lifesize display of the Simpsons sitting on the sofa. As much as I liked the surfer display the Simpsons would just be so cool to have in the family rec room.

The friend I mentioned went to our theater last night and talked to the manager about buying the Surfer once the promotional period was done...but they told him that because it's a promotional item from the studio, the theater can't profit from it, so they have to destroy it or send it back. =(

Then your friend should offer to "destroy" it for them... :D

I also asked about this beauty a little while ago and was told the same thing. My local theater has had many inquiries with this piece.

As much of a joke as you may be making, it honestly makes sense to me.....if they just "throw it out" and allow my friend to pick it up on his own accord, they haven't made an unjust profit, and they technically didn't deal with him either!
