Licensed Blade Runner Prop Replicas on the way!

I wonder if there is any significant difference between the Paragon Deckard Blaster and the previous Tomenosuke release?
I already own the Tomen (modified with a steel barrel and cylinder).
So there may be no point in getting this blaster (Paragon Deckard) if there is not much of an improvement.
I thought I heard it's the same, just rebranded under Paragon.

These ARE Tomenosuke blasters. Paragon contracted Tomenosuke to produce these blasters and is simply the US distributor (licensee). It's rather disappointing because being no longer bound by Japanese replica laws they could have used this release as an opportunity to improve the blaster by swapping the resin barrel and cylinder out for metal counterparts as you did with your custom blaster. Additionally, I would have loved to have seen the green targeting LEDs illuminate. On the bright side, it's nice that they're charging a couple of hundred less than HCG's last release. I also really like the look of the packaging, however, it looks like it may be missing the illustrated manual and allen wrench set included in the Japanese releases.

This may have been answered already, so apologies if so, but definitely no international shipping?

Tomenosuke is manufacturing the Elite for us. We do not work for them. Paragon is not distributing for them in any way. Paragon is the licensee. Just an important distinction. Tomenosuke offered (past tense) a number of different blasters and kits; only one of which was actually licensed.

We've purchased their tooling for our project and and are assembling with the same team in Japan. We appreciate their work and love their attention to detail.

All of our Blasters are licensed though Alcon Entertainment, LLC and will be landed in the U.S.

Hope that helps. Thanks for asking.

To add to my above post, I just discovered that Tomenosuke of Japan recently released a version of their blaster that included a wooden stand and working green targeting LEDs that illuminate with a pull of the forward trigger. All of this for just under $1000. So, US buyers are paying a bit more for significantly less than their Japanese counterparts with this release. While it's probably wishful thinking to hope for metal barrels and cylinders, it would have been great if Paragon had contracted Tomenosuke to provide their upgraded blaster with the additional functional LEDs for their release. I already own several Tomenosukes, so I'll almost certainly skip this release, however, had this version been the upgraded model I'd make a purchase without hesitation. Heck, I would have even paid a couple of hundred more for the satisfaction of illuminating those two lights with the pull of a trigger - it's the simple pleasures in life after all.

Finally, while I'm griping, it would be nice if Tomenosuke went back to releasing blued editions of their blasters. Years ago you could purchase a fully blued Tomen blaster for $900. Now all that's available are the much less striking (and screen inaccurate) matte black painted blasters. I'm certain that Tomenosuke made this change to maximize their profits as it's no doubt much cheaper to simply slap a coat of paint on the blaster than to take the time to do a proper bluing, however, considering how much these pieces cost in the first place it's a pretty cynical and disrespectful move toward their fanbase. Actually, looking at their Japanese website, it seems they offer a service where one can send their blaster into to them to have the matte paint removed and the metal blued all for the low, low price of about $2000. So yes, I think it's fair to say their move away from bluing to paint was more than purely stylistic in nature...

I agree been saying that as well. How can you keep selling that horrible trash paint job for 1000 its absurd at this point .

Actually the price for that special version with lit green lights is 2,940.00 USD. THAT is to rich for my blood.

There's another version too that's blued and with the green LED's for just over 3000 bucks. NOW that is definitely to rich for my blood.

Thought there is a service to send your blaster in for the green lit led upgrade for 270 bucks. Not sure how much shipping is back and forth will be, though I imagine that's gotta be pricey too.

I put the paragonFX version on reserve for myself. This is a TOM for less than the usual 1200-1400 bucks they charged so it is cheaper.

I already have a BR Blaster with the green lit LED'S anyways. But this version lights up with a switch. I like the TOM version where the green LED's are activated by the front trigger.

But the TOM's are entering higher prices now for their blasters...but people paid as both are currently sold out...both the 2900 and 3000 bucks version.

It appears that there are actually three models/services:

-A blaster that includes the working green LEDs and is blued - $3009

-A service where you send your current blaster in to have the green LEDs installed and have the metal blued - $2298

-A matte black blaster that is not blued but does include the working green LEDs - $987

The last one is the one I was referring to me in my post.

I agree that the blued prices are positively insane. As you mentioned, they are sold out, however, I also suspect they were released/offered in very limited numbers. And of course, there are always people to who money is essentially no object.

There is a service to have the green LEDs installed - $275. However, unfortunately it's only available to citizens of Japan. I contacted Tomenosuke to see if they would simply ship the parts to me so I could install them myself and they wouldn't even agree to that.

I completely agree that Paragon's price is certainly cheaper than HCG's last release at $1200. I certainly appreciate the price reduction and I give them full credit for that. It's also nice that they're offering a larger stock of blasters than the typical 150 units or so, so that more people have a chance at a purchase.

That's very cool that you have a blaster with working green LEDs. Agreed, the forward trigger is a very cool and intuitive way to activate the lights.

Ah my error. did not see that last one listed on their webpage. How did they reach that price point of slightly over 900 bucks including stand while the other two options were so much pricier? I understand the option that has the blueing process but the other? Maybe it's all metal?

I think they sold a kit install for the green LED's? If so it's sold out anyways...their stuff always seems to be sold out...LOL.

And yeah it is very cool looking with the all led green lights on. I love it. It's not a perfect replica in many ways as it has mistakes on it but overall I am happy with the piece. Here's a pic I took.

That paint job ugh

LOL yeah but I like it! It's definitely a bit thick but it looks cool in person! : )
No it doesn't I had one . It's a disgrace and marks up with finger prints . But people continue to accept this trash so don't expect any changes .

My apologies I didn't mean to offend. I wasn't expecting any changes...not sure what you mean by that. Sorry.

I agree, it's pretty disgraceful. I understand that it's no longer 2009 and operating and material costs have likely risen since then, however, it really raises my ire that in the not to distant past you could purchase a greatly superior product for $100 less than what we're paying today. I'd have no problem if they released two versions, say a mat version for $800 and a blued version for $1100-$1200. I think that would be a reasonable compromise that would keep everyone happy. But hey, if you can get away charging $2000 for just a bluing service and people are actually insane enough to pay that princely sum, I'd probably do the same if I were in their shoes.

No worries, the page is pretty confusing so I can understand the mistake. Regarding the huge increase in price, I don't think there's any material difference between the blasters. It seems the other two options are so insanely expensive because the bluing is personally done by Nobutaka Toku. It's my understanding that Mr. Toku is essentially the genesis and mastermind behind the Tomenosuke blaster. I've seen pictures of his bluing, and there's no denying that he does absolutely stunning work. His handywork is probably just about as close to flawless as you're going to get when it comes to these blasters. So, basically you're paying this huge premium to have very high quality work done and to be able to brag to your friends that you had the godfather of the Blade Runner blaster replica personally blue your piece. Having said that, if ***** ****** himself were to descend from heaven and offer to personally blue my blaster for $2000 I'd simply ask him for his haircare secrets and send him on his way. In other words, there's absolutely no way in hell I'd pay $2000 for a process that should only take two or three hours at the very most.

Regarding the green LEDs, they did sell a kit, however, you had to send it in to them for installation - no self installation. Yes, their stuff always seems to be sold out. I'm sure their profit margins are pretty large, so it's not exactly a bad position to be in.

That shot of your blaster is lovely! That's a really beautiful piece of kit! The green lights look fantastic, and I really love that super glossy grip end. Personally, I couldn't care less if there are mistakes or inaccuracies as long as it captures the spirit of the blaster, which yours clearly does. Is is that a SidKit? Something you assembled yourself?

I actually don't think the matte paint is terrible for what it is. However, it certainly doesn't hold a candle to a proper bluing. The glossiness and depth of a well done bluing blows the paint out of the water.

LOL I agree with your sentiments! The "godfather of all of the blade runner blasters"...that's good. LOL Hey I understand people seeking perfection and hell those are damn nice blasters! While I love BR I, like yourself, don't need the "godfather of BR blasters" as well! LOL

And thanks for the compliments on the blaster! And no I didn't make it myself...wish I had the skill to do so...just bought it from some guy on Etsy. Wasn't expensive and while like I said it is far from perfect...very far...lol...it makes me smile when I turn the lights on. It's heavy as hell as it's all metal too.

Looking forward to getting the ParagonFX blaster! : )

Very cool. Thanks for filling me in. I'm sure you're love your Paragon blaster. The Tomens are fantastic - matte finish or not.

The "upgrade" that we tend to ask from Tome is quite impossible to do since Japanese gun laws are very strict is terms of putting out and exporting a prop with a metal barrel for example. Not going to happen folks!! You'll have to do the switch and transformation yourself on that part and other parts of the gun to make it more Screen Accurate ;)
