Legend of Zelda - Kokiri sword

I'm looking to start on the Ocarina of Time Kokiri sword. Beginning prop maker, beginning sword from a great video game. I'm planning on going with the video game version instead of the picture of link which seems to have a bit more complicated blade.

The blade on the ladder seems to have more geometry. But with this photo since real master swords exist. I plan on getting my measurements this way.

Using photoshop to put each item in proper proportions and finding that the blade of the master sword was 31" I found that the Kokiri sword in this photo is 11.8 inches. For the sake of nice measurements and in case of flaws in either my handy work in photoshop skewing the swords I will be making my template for 12".
If you look at the first photo, the sword has angles on the hilt that a lot of prop replica makers have missed. Many who recreate this often leave the edges a straight drop off and I have seen none with the proper angles yet.
After working with some stuff I have started to cut into some foam with the borderline dimensions so I can cut that out as a base. But for now I'll give you the file I have ripped from the game and am using as reference.

Yesss! That's a cool sword, will you be making it at an adult scale or child scale then?
I will be going for a 1:1 from the photo which measures it at about a foot. It's hard to tell though because we don't really have exact measurements about these >_<
Thanks for the support and question c:

Well 1:1 would be for a child then! Because the kokiri sword is the sword that Link has when he's just a child :p

I've never seen someone make a proper replica of this so I'll be keeping my eye on this thread. As for the gem, you could simply sculpt on the piece with a 2 part epoxy putty and paint it red if you want to keep costs down. If you want a clear gem, You would need to mould the gem and cast it in clear resin which is expensive, even for just a little gem.

This webpage should help explain the process of making a clear gem. Create your own gem stones! – Kamui Cosplay
If your lucky, you could find a gem silicone mould tray which has the shape and size gem you need and simply cast a gem using the silicone tray.

Sorry it has been so long since an update. I am cutting this by hand and also juggling two college classes right now with 500 other projects I'm constantly thinking about! Anyways here is my most recent progress
