Legend of zelda for wiiu

The Legend of Zelda Wii U Trailer - E3 2014 - YouTube

And they finally stopped making the games look like a drunk 3 year old drew it. This is what a zelda game should look like (i haven't played the newer yet but i was sick with the designs they did for Majora's mask and such).

Oh, no. No way you're getting away with a comment like that. Not only is Twilight Princess my definitive ideal look of the Zelda universe, but the mood and themes of Majora's Mask could not have been told in any other kind of style outside of what the game presented. Plus, look at the art in that trailer. It's just a more mature looking form of the cel-shaded graphics from Wind Waker. Solid, low-textured graphics.

Cripes. If you want to know what a drunk 3 year old can do to Zelda, look at Hyrule Warriors. Not only does the villain put "commodore cleavage" from Farscape to shame, but Zelda has had her chest enlarged and more exposed than ever before. Compare her looks in Warriors to her looks in Twilight Princess, it's almost the difference between elegance and smut.

Also... and I know I'm wrong about this, but I don't care. I hope that's a girl.

The designs for MM only lasted for two games and that was more than 10 years ago! Anyway, I'm glad Aonuma wanted a different cel shaded look from his usual cartoony cel shaded look that has been used in a lot of Zelda games. A lot.

But its been confirmed by Aonuma that its Link. I know, I thought it was a girl too at first because of how effeminate Link will look in this new game but then again a lot of Korean and Japanese men in their pop culture all look like that these days anyway.

Than I want Link to be a girl. I don't think the plot would hinge that much if Link lacked male parts. I know the opposite can be true, but screw it.

To me, this new game looks like it could take place in the Wind Waker timeline/setting. The art style looks very similar, and to me the character's (Link?) tunic looks similar to Links blue outfit from WW.

To be honest, I was hoping for a game more along the lines of TP, but if they nail the open world gameplay and give it a great story, I'll be more than happy.

Link's always looked kinda feminine up until they went all cartoon like. I don't see why they couldn't have a female link other than he couldn't marry the current zelda and carry on the weird ass reincarnation thing they have going on in the 2 timelines. I want to see the timelines merge and Hyrule actually progress a bit technology wise. I always had an idea for a futuristic cyberpunk LOZ.

Of all the issues that a female Link could impose on the Zelda series, being able to merry Zelda herself is one that doesn't even blip on my radar. Despite the special bond the two characters have, more than 3/4 of official Nintendo Zelda material don't feature these two characters as characters who are romantically involved with one another. Zelda 2, the Adventures of Link and Skyward Sword are the only two Nintendo titles where the romance angle is at it's peak. Other titles of the series, including the classics such as Ocarina of Time, the original Zelda game, A Link to the Past, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess all feature Zelda and Link in a strictly platonic relationship. Heck, Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess took it a step further by having other female characters grow an attraction towards Link.

I want to see the timelines merge and Hyrule actually progress a bit technology wise. I always had an idea for a futuristic cyberpunk LOZ.

I remember a while back when there was a fake video that circled around and talked about that very concept actually happeningt. I knew it was fake because the art styles were nothing like Nintendo's art and Epona would never, EVER be reduced to a mere motorcycle. Oh, here it is!

Dude...

Granted the cell shaded look wasn't exactly my cup of tea but since the N64 the Zelda series has always been some of the best looking games on their respective consoles.

I'm certainly not against a female main player character. (my Skyrim character is female) yet if there was to be a female playable character in Zelda, They should do it along the lines of Link and a sister (call her Lynn. lol) kind of like the four swords thing. Play co op, or switch back and forth between the two. Then again, that's just me.

Jeyl, I'm in no way trying to start an argument. I read this a few years ago, yet I don't know where to find the Link again, so this is based on memory. Link is supposed to be an extention of the player, or "link" to the player, hence his name. He's you, essentially. So as for all the women in the games, Zelda, Malon, Midna, Ilia, etc.. it's sort of up to you to interpret who Link ends up with after the games. (while it's implied Midna and Link got a thing, They obviously don't hook up. she's the one exception) It's up to your imagination, so basically if you like Malon over Zelda, then that's who Link ends up with. (Link between worlds strongly implies Link from LttP did end up with Zelda though, because there were no other female character choices for him during that game. Marin doesn't count, as she was just a dream)

Wes R, there's 3 timelines now, so I don't think any will merge. There's the Downfall timeline, the Hero Child Timeline, and adult timeline. Zelda Timeline - Zelda Wiki

If there's going to be a female character in a Zelda game why the hell would you want it to be anyone other than Zelda herself?

Give us a game as Sheik or Tetra. Link himself is a guy, has been for almost 30 years. Next you're going to tell me we need Mario to be a female.

MovieBob took a shot at that very point in his recent The Big Picture video, "Link Be A Lady".

"Gender flipping an iconic universally recognized character? Earth shaking. That's a game changer. But Link is really the only character where you could do it while risking only minimal backlash. See, the catch-22 of feminizing a Nathon Drake, Marcus Phoenix or even a Mario is that they're already to one degree or another caricatures of exaggerated masculine archetypes. So a proper female version is inevitably going to come off more as a commentary of the original than a character in her own right. But Link? Well, obviously Link is fairly androgynous most of the time to begin with."

Ask yourself, why do you want Link to be a female? I already know the answer, it's because there aren't enough female protagonists in video games and I agree with that. However why does that mean we have to take a well established franchise with a strong archetype over 18 games (and dozens of additional publications and TV shows) of a boy saving Hyrule and make that boy a girl?

I'll never understand people's need/desire to take a male character and make it female "just because". Make new characters and franchises or as I said, USE THE STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS THAT ALREADY EXIST IN THE FRANCHISE.
