Legacy Lightsaber Accuracy? (Galaxy's Edge)

Just wondering if anyone has compared the new Legacy Lightsabers at Galaxy's Edge to the original hilts & how accurate they are?

Original hilts, like the props?

Graflexes are like 70% there, best to compare them yourself to other pictures and threads and train your eye since there are numerous parts that are "off" to some degree

I can say the ROTJ Luke has a very accurate looking pommel, neck and a pretty accurate control box, considering. The grip section isn't like the original prop at all. The emitter plate looks very wide and thin, much like the ANH Stunt sabers (V2, Shared Stunt) which is a nice touch, albeit from a different prop

I mostly understand how they appear, it's the little details that I'm curious about / the width of things. I wonder how much wider they might be to accommodate the detachable blade. I know the ROTJ hilt has a removable emitter to fit the blade which is pretty neat.

Oh gosh the replacement emitter for that one includes the grenade section and it has the same fat neck as the collectors light up sabers have before

Every licensed ep1-2 Obi-Wan FX hilt I've seen is too fat.

Tom is right about what he's saying. Lots of little differences in the Graflex based replicas, and the Luke "hero" is fairly nice looking, the pommel cubes actually look maybe a little too wide (most I've seen are too narrow), the grip area is idealized, neck and emitter look decent, but are off here and there.

I saw they stuck a black slider button in the grip area on the Episode 1 Obi saber instead of making one of the accurate buttons the activation.

It appears to be necessary due to the blade insertion depth. Still unfortunate though

I think if they really wanted to, those fancypants toy engineers could find a way to run some wire up around the blade socket to reach the "real" switch.

Not without making the whole thing wider. A switch housing is going to add diameter. You also risk smashing the switch connections and breaking them on impact when the blade is hit.

For what they are they are sure very nice and a huge improvement with the the replaceable RGB blades and different sound fonts for each color. Luke and Vader finally have their own film accurate sound fonts. I want to pick up the Vader mainly due to the really nice sound font for RED. Its exactly what I've been wanting for in a Vader sound font. For a while the only Vader saber I've had is a converted 2005 Vader saber with the tired out sith sound font that MR created. I've been wanting a saber with the accurate sound font and Disney delivered. Plus the hilt is the most accurate FX hilt on the market imo(better then Parks MPP2.0).

Begining of next month I want to see if someone Will pick one up for me. I'm willing to pay $180 for the hilt and 36" blade. That should include tax and shipping.

I want the Rey and the Kylo, but I want to pay the park price ($100
For Rey, $150 for Kylo, plus shipping) but I can’t find a Disney site that will ship them.

Do they come with those containers? Those are pretty cool. The ROTJ Luke looks a little fat too me.

They do come with the cases, they're really awesome. I want one just for the case, but I already have better versions of the legacy sabers I'd want. I may get Ahsoka's, but they seem a little big, so I'm not sure.

They won't have any of those on their sites for a WHILE, if at all. Your best bet is to check Facebook groups for Disney personal shoppers and see if one of them can get you one (and not charge a premium). May want to wait a few months for the rush to cool down.

I know they do offer shipping from the parks when you buy things there, but I've never done it so I have no idea how it works or how much they charge. I'm going to WDW in October and I wouldn't mind getting them and shipping them to you if you maybe want to call or email them to see how I would go about doing that. I'd offer to bring them home and ship them myself, but there's no way I'll have space in my suitcases with all of the stuff I need for myself, haha. Alternatively, maybe somebody on here lives close to Disneyland/Disney World and could grab them and ship them to you.

This has already been discussed in the other threads but the Luke Return of the Jedi hilt is not a thin necked when holding a blade. When you want it to have a blade, the entire emitter and and grip section screws off and is replaced by a fatter piece.

Check out this video:

Yeah, that was mentioned a little further up, it's a dagummed crying shame.

I guess at least they included a relatively nice looking "display" emitter/neck section..

I think the rotj is worth it for a low cost display piece that can light up if you want it to. If I didn’t already have Roman props’ version, I would get it for display.

For the most part, I like them. Not for me but for other people looking to start collecting. Yes, there are accuracy issues and yes, compared to fan FX builds, the electronics are not as good. But the give-and-take of the cons compared to the price is very good. I like how you don't have to buy a blade or if you buy a bunch of hilt, they can share the same blade so you can save money.

I wish they would have done blade plugs or replacement emitters for the hilts so that they look good sitting as a display piece. For instance, it would bee cool if The Phantom Menace Obi had the emitter or top of the emitter screw off and be replaced with a hole-less emitter plate. Or the Rey had a plug with the rod visible. Those would have been nice touches.

As it stands right now, there really isn't any of them I need in my collection. Most of it has to do with that I'm not much of a FX lightsaber collector. For what is offered, I pretty much have it covered for now. If they have some other hilts in the future that Ilike but don't have, I will consider them. I will admit the Ahsoka hilts are alluring even with the bulky width.

Currently I am more interested in the Savi workshop custom build lightsabers more than the legacy hilts.
