Learning to cast my own Ghostbuster props. A messy journey...

I have been buying resin parts for my packs for sometime now and have been interested in making my own. I have always had an idea of how the process works but absolutely no hands on experience. This site has (once again) be a valuable resource! My overall goal was to make casts of all the parts I end up making for friends from scratch. First up my bucks -

I made a skeleton for my gun grips and filled it with epoxy putty -

Stick on pearls and googly eyes. Both ideas I found on this site.





Dimensional fabric paint for circuits. It's... LOOKING at me Ray.





Up next, my molds...

My first mold was my leg clamp. I picked what I figured would be to easiest to cast and pull. I built a box from some art board held together with regular hot glue.

To figure out my volume so that I would not waste silicone I got a few bags of Lentils from the store. and poured that into my mold box with the buck already in it.

Then I poured that into a red party cup and then halved that. Which gave me a good approximate or how much OOMOO silicone I would need for this pour.

I got a few bubbles in my guild holes but those get drilled out anyway. There it is! My first mold!

Used my Lentils again to figure out my inner volume.
