Latest Indy projects

Well, I've been working on an Indy display, ordered a Sulla diary which should be underway, Made a Raiders Map from the paper props here, and trying to figure out a Sanskrit cloth...

BUT tonight I picked up some clay for the first time ever and decided to try a Sankara stone, it is 6.5" tall by about 3" diameter. I'm pretty happy and can't wait to paint it.

Then I figured why stop there? lol And tried my hand at a grail cup with the measurments I found here... definatley not perfect but I'm pretty happy considering I don't have a wheel to turn it. I just mashed it out of a hunk of clay.

Thanks man! Like I said, not perfect but great for a budget propper like myself.

Just a few other pieces to get for this set. I used to have a great Indy collection but sold it all for food. LOL

:thumbsup
Great work, I'm a "budget propper" too and I like what you've done.
Nothing at all wrong with making props yourself :D

Great start to some fine looking props. Are you going to cast up some copies of the stone?

Hmmmm.....A Sankara stone, cast in clear resin with LEDs inside. Now that would be a nice project!

Looks like you had an armature of some sorts under them (or maybe they were solid clay)? With the air drying stuff, you'd definitely want them hollow/no armature inside.

Yeah I used a bottle underneath to get my shape to start.. I couldn get it to stand free on its own.

Would an armature of checiken wire or something work? It might give wnough flex for the shrinking?

I've never worked with the air dry clay (but a Grail cup had me looking at the stuff, even before you posted), but there should be some tips on the box about armatures.

I'd try Saran Wrap over the armature, and then remove when the clay starts to set up some. You might be able to use loosely wadded newspaper for the armature, since it would give quite a bit.

Yeah I used saran wrap on the cup armature(small globe) and had no issues with it.. Only the stem cracked up which was built over a rod..

Maybe I'll give it a go again and use that route,
