Lara Croft "Tomb Raider" props

This year the wife wanted to be Lara Croft for Halloween so I started on the costume a couple of months ago. The pics are of the final product. By far the most difficult part of this build was the holsters. I started out with two plastic "Fobus" paddle holsters and cut them up leaving only the retention system left. Then I created a fiberglass shell around each holster to cover up the vaccu-formed detail and make the outside of each holster smooth. Each fiberglass shell was then covered with 3oz vegetable tanned leather and dyed black.

The belt and drop holster backings were made from 6oz vegetable tanned leather. After cutting out the basic shapes, I glued everything together with contact cement and then took them down to the local tack shop to have them stitched. (Damb I wish I had a heavy duty sewing machine) The grommets and snaps were an easy one.

The buckle started as a 2" metal buckle blank from Tandy leather. A little clay, a little sculpting, a little silicone, a little resin and Wha La.

I know its not totally screen accurate but I think it turned out pretty good. This was a fun project.
