Kurgan represented, and won, at the wizard world comic con austin

hey brothers and sisters of the boards, i attended the wizard world comic con up in austin last weekend and represented with my kurgan armor. it was a fantastic experiance and i wanted to share with you, i won first place in costumes out of alot of people. i had some wicked cool judges also, like Brian Steele from Hellboy and Predators, doug jones from hellboy, the soup nazi and detective Jarrett Crippen Austin PD who was on, who wants to be a superhero he is the Defuser. many many people knew who i was right off the bat, however i had to school many of the younger generation on who the Kurgan really was. i was called a human predetor, evil ash from army of darkness, and some other wierd characters, next year im buying 50 dvds of the movie and handing them out lol... i think i took upwad of 500 pics, i missed alot of the celebs cause i didnt make it 5 feet without asking to take pics, and i am looking for the really good ones to post. i wasnt able to take a sword with me inside, and thats my fault, i actually make a resin cast of the screen used kurgan sword i own, and will make a resin blade for it for the next one, that way i can do the sword spinning during the contest, they like the showy people... so i wanted to show you some pics i pulled off the net, also that you guys here were a BIG supporter in my endevors to make this armor and make it right, and i thank all of you!
i might add, i almost didnt make it there, i spent friday night and all mornign saturday making a full right arm resin vambrace to match the film one, and replace the metal one i used, it was a loooong mornign and with the help of stormgirl i was able to get it dont, fit it and put new snake skin on! ill post pics of that later :)

Well deserved!!

Man you have got to meet Clancy in Costume.

:lol He would chit him self! :lol

That turned out really well. Awesome completion and execution. Doesn't look like a costume, but rather a real armor and get-up.

Hey, saw you walking around the con and gotta say pictures don't do justice. It's looks absolutely awesome. Wish I'd been kitted up in my mando armor so I could have gotten a picture with you.

Honestly how many times did you hear "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!" shouted out by random con-goers?

Congrats and excellent excellent rendition of one of my favorite bad guys.

thanks guys and i am really looking for a way to send clancy a finished helmet for his collection, i have chatted up Davis panzer, the official clancy brown website and so on... i think it would be a great honor for me to have one in his collection!
and for people shouting there can be only one... i really and truley dont think i heard that... i hear alot of "holy chit, the kurgan' lol
nightfall i would have loved to take a pic, for real most of the guys dressed up avoided taking pics with me, cept wes, who was captain america with a shield i made, it was mostly the women in adn out of costume... but it works for me lol
garlic, it feels like a real set of armor, i remade the vambrace and it attached to all the pieces, the only thing i want to make and fix, or pay to have made, is the left arm and leg segmented leather armor, its not a true and traditional roman armor piece, mostl like a bunch of pieces of pleather sewing over a sleeve...

Irish,

...DUDE that looks INCREDIBLE! Great job! You've made me want to dust off that DVD and watch it again. I haven't seen it in so long.

Congrats Brotha! It's nice to see that your effort and hard work has paid you dividends! I voted for your costume here as well during the costume contest.

Kyle, I've always thought your Captain America shields were amazing, but this is by far the best thing you've ever done.

Btw, I'm surprised you didn't hear "better to burn out than to fade away!" or "I know his name."

Daryl,
Ever since you first asked me to make you a Kurgan helmet, I knew you'd rock this armor, you just had an overwhelming passion for it.
Now I'm glad I wasn't able to jump on this project with you, cause it could've never been this awesome.
Fantastic job!
-Brin
