Hi,

My name is Saz, It has been suggested by a few people on other forums that I joined up here as soon as registration allowed, so here I am.

Thought I would make this thread firstly to say hi and to say a little bit about myself and what I do.

I am a UK based Fiberglass helmet maker and since this time last year I was making my own scratchbuilt Mandalorian helmet so I could make some costuming sculptures, my first idea was to add a little Japanese influence into the helmet but still make it Starwarsy.

Here were my initial sketches:

Once I was happy I took one of my fiberglass mando helmets and began to draw on it:

I then began to sculpt the creature with car body filler, tentatively at first:

Slowly building up the basic shape:

With the basic shape done, it was now a question of smoothing the body down:

With it all smooth, it was time for me to psyche myself for the hard bit:

The scales, you do not know how long this felt like taking!!! :) :

Also, with permission I can show you how one of the people who got one of my casts decided to paint it, this was done by A'den Skirata who regularly troops with the Mandalorian Mercs, he's kindly allowed me to use his extra work to help me promote my work:

I think you'll agree he's done an amazing job with it!

Anyhoo, that's me and some of the things I do.

Thanks for reading!

I'm not a fan of custom mando's, but your sculpt on that looks amazing. Great job and welcome to the RPF. :thumbsup

I am also not a fan of the custom mandos, however I have to give you credit...you really pulled off something unique and fun. Great job and welcome to the RPF(y)):thumbsup

I can only echo the whole custom Mandalorian thing, but I can also echo the sentiment that this is an amazing build up. Good job, and we all look forward to more work from you.

Intresting....... never really thought of stuff like that, but it came out really cool, i specially like the painting and the grills on the hemlet. looks cool!!! not to mention the dragon!!!

Yeah A'den has done some great custom work on the bucket.

As for the custom Mandos, I know they make quite a bit of money for charity and I also know to become a merc you have to adhere to strict costuming codes equal to the 501st.

In the end I'm enjoying myself making sculptures that people want to wear and I enjoy seeing people take my original design and making it their own, so it's all good for me :D

Good to see you here as well Saz ;)
I really like how this came out! A'den really did a good job on further customization and paint. It came out pretty slick.

Looking forward to further projects from you!

Hmm, not 100% sure where I know you from, the handle isn't familliar :)

are the dragons eyes glowing in the last pick, or is that just some light reflecting or something? Amazing design by the way!!!!

Thanks for the comment s on the design, I believe A'den drilled out the eyes of the dragon and used some stick on gems as an alternative, they're glowing because of the sunlight.
