I'll have to keep that in mind... I've been using acetone... and that's probably one of the many reasons my wife will outlive me.... Then again I am a resilient son of a... well you know.
A bit of a thread hijack, but seriously, acetone is a toxic solvent, like just about every other solvent (MEK, lacquer thinner, etc). Here's from an MSDS (material safety data sheet) I got off Google:
Toxicology: May be harmful by inhalation, ingestion or skin absorption. Irritant. Liquid may cause permanent eye damage (corneal clouding). Contact with skin may cause defatting, leading to irritation. Long-term exposure may cause liver damage.
Acetone is not the worst solvent, but it is still dangerous, especially if you are using it on a regular basis.
I know several people who were power users of acetone back in the day when it was used for celastic, who weren't careful with exposure, and honestly, they ALL have liver damage. One DIED of liver damage.
Lucien, stop using it on your skin, if you do. Seriously, especially don't use it on your face.
