Kmikzeken's Wip (Pic Heavy)

Not many unfortunately, waiting on some items to arrive and for cold, rainy weather to go away again.  The mask has grown a few dreads but I haven't snapped any photos yet.  I've been brainstorming/researching animatronics and am planning something I fear is growing a bit too ambitious for my skill level, so we'll see where that adventure takes me.  The big project that I finally got time to finish was the duct tape dummy and prepping Mr. InPredible for latex.

I'm trying to combat the two big skins issues, heat and mobility.  I cut out the arm pits of the Mr. I suit and sewed in some sports mesh (think basketball shorts material).  Should hopefully be able to provide some sort of airflow and as the mesh is very stretchy, won't limit arm movement.  I figure I won't latex the crotch area and will most likely just cut some of that area away after the skins are made since I'll be able to cover it with a loin cloth.

Also, zipper.

Spent some time these past few days working on the feet.  I worked on cleaning up some excess flashing and started building the feet lifts.  The lifts were created out of many many layers of eva foam and a pair of new balance sandals, all held together with Barge cement.  I stand 5'11" barefoot.  While wearing the feet and the mask, I measured at 6'8", which I'm pretty happy about!  I still have to fill the gaps on the foam pad that sits underneath the foot itself, but this is a good start to a tall pred.

The lifts also fill out the feet nicely and the feet don't fold into themselves as much when I walk.  They have a very comfortable, solid feel.

Nice one, I'm already 6'6" if I stack the eva foam I will be as tall as a Pred.  Awesome! thanks for sharing.

Spent the better part of today getting the feet mostly finished.  Installed 5" zippers up the back of the feet with a needle and "outdoor" plastic coated thread.  I was afraid the heavy duty thread would pull through the latex but the latex held fast.

I placed the platforms back into the feet (which was a pain to do with the new zippers...) and realized I could not successfully glue them down inside the foot as I initially thought without making a mess and possibly ruining the feet.  A couple of small screws up through the bottom might have to do the trick, as long as the screws won't damage the feet too much.

Anyway, after the zippers came the pros-aide and the paint.

Now I just have to find a way to secure the platforms inside the feet and then sort out the soles.  Other than that, another piece can be checked off the build-list.  Any advice/criticism welcomed!  Thanks for looking!

Are you using a stencil for the dotting on the upper parts of the feet?  It looks really good!

Damn the feet came out awesome! I think I saw mr fett had a thread about putting platforms in chucks feet. Maybe it says in there how he kept them in!

Thanks everyone!  @ Scanff, I just painted the pattern freehand with the AB and with a foam brush.  I didn't feel like trying to make a stencil lol.  Not much else to update, other than that I ended up picking up a Termokk Bio w/LEDs to match my mask.  I also picked up some lasers just to see what I'll like better.  If all goes according to plan, the Mr. I suit gets started Friday.  So here are some pics of the bio with (some) dreads finally installed.  Thanks for looking!

hows your Mr I suit coming?  I started mine yesterday and Im not sure that Im really getting it....

Gonna keep at it though, how knows maybe it'll sort its self out in the end

Looks like you are making better progress than I am, I want to slam my head into the wall right now lol.  After 3 hours the latex still feels wet to the touch and transfers right to my skin, then instantly dries on my hands and can be peeled off.  Definitely more time consuming than I was expecting.

You just reminded me, I kicked over my latex when I was painting and a large portion of it ended up on the garage floor.  I let it dry for a few days and had the best time pulling it up.  I almost slipped on it a couple of times :)
