Klingon Helmet from Universal Studios Tour???

Gone but not forgotten.
About 15 - 18 years ago, people on the Universal Studios Tour could make a little 10 minute Star Trek video, where half the group would dress up in movie era Federation costumes, and the other half would dress up in Klingon uniforms.

Among the Klingon costumes, was their Security Officer, who got to wear a really cool Spartan-esque helmet. It was all shiny gunmetal, with stylized forhead bumps. It was one of the last things Robert Fletcher designed for Trek and I can't find a google shot of it anywhere.

I figured before I pull all the clay Spartan sculpt off the bust I've got here, I'd check around and see if anyone might have any pics of the Kling helmet in the collections. Sketches, vacation pics, ANYTHING will help. :)

Thanks!

Klingons never wore helmets in any incarnation of Star Trek that I'm aware of.

The only reference I've ever seen to a "Klingon helmet" is from a graphic novel that was done in the 1980s where some guy makes a "helmet" out of a bucket and sells it to a fanboy in order to scam him. :unsure

Security guards on the Enterprise in TMP, Trek III (and probably WOK as well) wore this type of headgear.

You're correct- these were only seen in the Universal tour videos. I'll see if I can scribble one up from memory later tonight. :)

Oh! These helmets were also only seen in the HOLLYWOOD Universal tours- Universal FL had a Trek video thing too, but it was a whole different format- people were only able to dress up in Federation uniforms, and the Klingons were real actors in footage that was editied in before before the tourists left.

I'm not sure I could put a lot of stock in a highly advanced species that plays patty-cake while they brag about how superior they are.

It was still better than Nemesis.

It was THAT long ago?! Man I feel old! :p

I've seen concept art for the Klingon helmet somewhere. As I recall, it was considered as an option to save time and money as it's faster, easier, cost effective to drop a helmet over someones head than it is to spend hours attaching a foam latex appliance. Perhaps that is why the TOS Romulan helmets came over the ears the way they did.

I feel stupider for having watched that...and it illustrated one of the things that has always bugged me about Trek fandom (remembering for a minute that I'm a HUGE Trek fan) - Klingons with glasses :p

Don't forget the TOS episode where the transporter operator wore glasses. :lol

The helmet was made by Global Effects and sculpted by Patrick Tatopoulos.
They Checked to see if mold still exsisted, but no findy.
