Kevin Durant OKC Thunder (FIRST PULL)

Finished Sculpt:



Decided to try out a different sculpt and picked #35. It may not be movie related but then again he did do a movie last year (Thunderstruck).

I'm not using any particular reference shot, but still attempting to create an accurate life sculpt. Stepping back from the sculpt I can already see some problems, but thought I would share with the forum and ask for advise or critiques!

I continue to play with this sculpt occasionally. Each time I go back to it, I laugh at how bad it is. But each time it continues to improve.... so hey, maybe I'll get there!

The eyes were awful previously and I decided it had to have a set of eyes to move forward. So I dug out the eyes and set in a pair from Jim at Tech-optics.
The look improved tremendously but still has a ways to go.

If anyone wants to throw out some critiques or suggestions, I encourage you to go ahead.
Anyways, here's the progress.

Your right with the eyes,
I Like to put the eyes in early with my sculpting so I can see some life in the piece..
it also Gives you an idea of what eyes to use in the Finished Bust, as you may decide the color or size is wrong after looking at them for a few hours..

Everybody has a different approach to sculpting and I normally like to show my sculpture to many people and if they say that's so & so you on the right path..
Some portraits don't show the full character of person till it's 90% Finished
Good Stuff so far..!!

I agree taht it doesn't look like the character till its nearly finished. I just thought I would share the progress, and looking back at the photos I almost laugh that I was excited about sharing. But, it's a process and the bust is looking much better now. Still have to smooth things out and add texture to the skin and jersey but I like where its going!

I think I'm ready to call this sculpt good and mold it up.
The cast will be onyx black but have a bronze finish.... should be really cool.
Any critiques are welcome but only have about 8hrs till I get off work and start molding, hahaaa.

Still needs some clean up and detail work but not bad already.

Managed to fix all the air bubbles in the hair and other spots...
