Hi all, ive been tinkering with K.I.T.T. lately and realised I havent done much of an update for sometime.
I originally bought my 83 Trans Am 19 years ago and immediately went ahead with turning him into K.I.T.T. I made my own fibreglass dash and gullwing steering wheel and cut up some cheap electronic aftermarket dash to make the instruments useable.
His nose was more of a team effort with some friends who also have K.I.T.T.s and K.A.R.R.s
After driving him around for a few years we had to move across country and when we got there I put him in storage. At that point someone wanted a dash so I took mine out and moulded it. This damaged my original but I had the mould so I could make myself another. Since then life has gotten in the way (as so many of us find out) and he has been on the back burner (in a container) for the past 10 years.
Its always been my intention to respray him as his paint job was never flawless so ive started some prep work already.
Time for the ressurection to begin. The dash is nearly done with all new ele tronics and twin touchscreen tv's ive made a new gullwing steering wheel and have nearly finished building a 383 stroker with around 425bhp.
Uprated 700r4 and braced rear end for the extra torque. Wanting a more modern feel ive gone with Koni shocks and 1" lowering springs all round. LS front brakes which meant a wheel change. Obviously I wanted to keep the look of K.I.T.T. and found these 16x7.5.
Although they looked ok kept looking and found what I think will look amazing. 17x8 and the right offset. All I needed was a cap the right size to match and with that fabbed here is the result.
So now he will have the ability to accelrate better stop better and go around corners better (also have wonder bar and subframe connectors, tubular rear lower arms and panhard rod.... oh and tubular front A-arms all poy bushed). There are only a few things to do.
Put the engine in. Final prep and paint and the hardest thing of all. Locate and stop all the damn sqeaks and rattles. But thats for another.
