So I just ordered a Rodd.com Mark X tricorder, i've only build a few tricoders before, and nothing spectacular, so asking for a little help. I want to build this to be a spectacular hero prop, I'm going to add electronics later when the funds come in. So if anybody knows the correct paint colors and paint type, ect. that would be great, or if anyone has built one before maybe post some pics of there progress and finished pieces. That would be great. Thanks very much!!!

I think a quick trip the A Site About Props (ASAP) would be very helpful for you. They have a huge Star Trek section and a whole section devoted to the Tricorders. Info includes paint codes and build ups of Rodd.com kits.

Thanks, I just became a member of the trek prop zone, been a member of ASAP for years, they do have alot of info on trek props, very helpful!!!

Also, all the Rodd.com kits include a fairly comprehensive instructional guide that typically include paint colors. I have an unbuilt mark x sitting at home in my basement. I'll check the instructions when I get back for paint and supplies info.

Sorry about that...I totally forgot to check on this. According to the instuctions, you will need:

-Medium gray metallic, such as Plastikote #1534 Light Smoke Metallic or GM #7173
-Krylon Flat Black or Semi-Gloss Black
-Black brush paint (a jar of Tamiya, Testors, or similar brand)

I hope that helps.
