Just got a TE Stunt Trooper Helmet

Like the title says, I just took delivery of a TE stunt bucket that I purchased from a member here on the boards. It's hard to justify silly extravagances like this in these difficult financial times, but sometimes a deal and a great piece are too hard to pass up.

First, I have to say that the helmet looks amazing. I have it on display with my newly acquired SPFX Vader ESB and the EfX Trooper helmet. The comparison to the EfX is amazing. The EfX looks like a trooper while the TE IS a trooper. I can't get over the beauty of the piece. It looks like an original sitting on my shelf. Just awesome. The kind of piece I've always wanted.

That said, I am AMAZED at how light weight it is compared to the EfX. Definitely a display only helmet. It's already showing signs of age, it's signed and dated 2003. Not enough to take away from it, but just enough to make it look a little more authentic and worn. If this is how the originals were made, then it's a miracle that any of them survived the production as it would seem the makers definitely did not have longevity in mind. The first word that comes to mind is "disposable". But, again, beautiful. And, now that I have one great trooper helmet. I want another. Like all things related to this board. It's a sickness. Also, looking at it, I think I'd like to work towards putting an entire display Stormtrooper together. Anyone know good sources of armour of comparable quality?

Do any of you guys have TE buckets of your own? I'd love to see pictures of some other helmets.

Wish I could share pics, but I'm not able to right now.

Ah, I remember the days when I first started collecting TK stuff. Sounds like you are off to a good start. Now you will need a hero, a TD, some in ABS plastic, a HDPE, etc....

Welcome to the party, pal!:cool

Forever will it dominate your destiny!

Nice! I want to try and not get too out of control. Maybe one more high quality TK helmet, maybe a hero, and I think I'll be good.

Hey Jax what are the Red and grey helmets? I know the one on the can is an HDPE but what are the others

On that note...where is the best place to source stands or pedestals? I'd like to have something of a uniform design and height for all the helmets...Vader, TKs, Fett, etc. I haven't had much luck in my search.

Also, are these TE pieces still available? I would definitely like another at some point.

Nice helmet J72, Just don't let your obsession about how to best display these gems (best lighting, display cabinets, museum type pedestals, etc) get to you, right JJ:lol

I think the grey one is a SFS fibreglass helmet, intrigued as to what the red one is too....

Don't the original screen helmets have a red primer coat? I don't think as red as this. If you look at the inside of the screen helmets they look pink in colour as the paint is thinner. Also on some of the chipped HDPE area you can see a red colour. Judging by the chipped areas the red comes away with the white and it is a very thin layer compared to the thick white coats of paint.

Here is an example of some primer seen on the edges of the white / HDPE on a helmet - pic is from board member Keith. If you don't want it up Keith give me a shout.

Altmanns shop displays were similar for their helmet stands with a chest and shoulders (possibly a one piece) - but not as good as Jax's display.

Yeah... saw those... shuddered... then happily forgot about them until you mentioned them again... damn you... damn you all to hell... oh wait... wrong movie... :)

I started with one Gerardo Follano helmet and moved on to TE helmets after that. I have owned 10 complete suits over the years, and a dozen or more TE trooper helmets. I agree with what you say about it actually BEING a trooper helmet, while the licensed helmets simply look like an interpretation of the stormtrooper. They are well made, but not the spitting image of the screen used helmets.

I even felt that way about the fettled SDS helmets. They have way too many alterations to match, but some aspects of his helmet were closer to the originals than any other. It just depends on how glaring the other faults are in the eye of the beholder with SDS lids.

I'm going to be letting go of some TE helmets soon. They are the best though.

The only helmet that has me really intrigued right now is the ABS LAWS helmet. I'd love one of those for my collection.
