Just finished Kick-Ass the graphic novel compilation

Well it was something i was putting off for a while now, and after watching the movie i wanted to see the source material. I can not wait for balls to the wall now. This would of made for a great one to one transition to the screen but i understand why they did it the way they chose. The imagery is well more intense in the graphic novel, and the content is a bit more mental. I would love to see a cartoon translation. Things about the comic that really took hold was the fact is everyone is a screw up, and thats ok. I liked the Dave in comic more then Dave in the movie. More to come i want to reread it to take better appreciation.

In the comics, you got more of the changes Kick-Ass does to his world. You see all the other superheroes, you understand why the Flying Armenian of the beginning of the story, no crappy double-gatling guns flying backpack and no crappy lovestory.

I also prefer the comics version, but the movie is cool and has its moments of greatness. :)

There were a few things I wanted to see in the movie that didn't make it, but overall I really enjoyed both. I'd have liked it better if the love story thing turned out like it did in the book but one thing I really liked about the way they did it in the movie is that it gave me the impression Katie liked Dave for who Dave was, not for the fact he was Kick-Ass. The thing that always bugged me about the Spider-Man movies is that Peter really should have ended up with the russian girl (his landlord's daughter in Spider-Man 3) because those other two idiots were more into Spider-Man than Peter Parker. Not having everyone screw up so bad gives the movie a sweet (or as sweet as this movie gets, anyway) feeling towards the end that, depending on my mood, is either a really nice capper to the movie or just annoying.
