Had some time to burn this weekend:

Of course on Sunday, I heard, "So you're cutting paper, again."

The big thing on this is I did the unfold. Yeah, not that big but at least I'm learning how to use the Pepakura Designer.

Mail?

The Desert Storm inverted 'V' wouldn't stay in the vertical plan of the shield.... So cut up and hot glued some bamboo sticks to the inside.

Don't know if the helmet is too large or if the opening in the front is too wide. Guess I'll know after the inside is glassed and then padded.

There is an issue with my unfold. The long vertical pieces that make up the side and back don't have many interlocking tabs to add additional internal support so the card stock is kind of wrinkly from the first coating of white glue.

Seems smaller interlocking pieces are better than long unsupported strips.

the helmet is quite wide in the movie, but I think you are right it may be a tad wide on here... is there any way you can bring it in? well I mean if the padding etc doesn't change the gap size? it looks awesome though! great job dude!

Thanks.
I will pull the opening together with a course of masking tape before the next coat of white glue.
Just finished reinforcing the inside of the cheeks with a piece of bamboo and a bead of hot glue along the inside bottom edge to keep the edges true.

If need be, can build up the front edge of the cheeks with fiberglass when the outside surface is sculpted.

Thanks Decky.

To keep the sides in, cut out and glued the cheek detail. The eye slots will be kept closed until the glue coating on the inside is finished drying.

It required printing a photo of the movie helmet to figure out what was off. The opening wasn't too wide... the shape and size of the nose was wrong. Took a triangle and quickly drafted and glued together a new nose. Also, one of the eye slots is now open.

At the rate I'm going there will be a third Dredd movie by the time this helmet is done.

Just got the visor today. It is a Bell 5 Snap Smoke. Need to do some trimming and the epoxy is still venting. :eek Wow, what a smell for one picture.

Going to put a third layer of fiberglass inside and then finish the outside.
I thought about using the inside of an old HJC but it looks like I tossed it in my last move.
Need to decide if I will order a replacement liner or just make one.

007, Here is where I got the visor.

Amazon.com: Bell Replacement Five-Snap Shield for R/T Helmet - Tinted: Motorcycle Superstore

Since I was at the work bench today I trimmed the visor down. I used a metal ruler and an X-acto knife to score the cut and then bent the plastic until it broke along the line. Hope to save the ,not movie accurate, safety lip on the curved bottom.

I'm am doing this, yes ... rather slowly, with the expectation that UD replicas may make a suit in the future.... So all that I would need to do is the helmet and a Lawgiver. Oh yeah and a Law Master. :love
I think if I throw the Law Master out there Household 6 will allow me to at least do a WLA.
