Joker Hexagonal Fabric Interest

Ok, guys! I have some updates. I talked with one of my contacts last night for quite some time, and I have a way to get 15% off the original price. If I purchase 50 yds a week, it will free up their machines for clients that need the 400-500 yds immediately. Sooo, how this will work...My contact makes up a swatch for me (just a sample for me to ok), production on the first 50 yds gets rolling, I receive first 50 in about 2 weeks, and an additional 50 every week or so...approximately...the thing is most of you guys want this before Halloween. I'm going as Boba for Halloween sooo I just want this for my Joker mannequin. For this to work, I'd need to get a list of everyone who needs this before Halloween. This would drop the price to $29-30 per yard shipped. That includes shipping which is going to be $40 from the printer to me and x amount to each of you guys. I'm still shooting for 400 or so yards as most people want 3,6, or 8 yards. The fabric is going to be 65-35 and 44" wide.

I also am going to talk to my OTHER contact in about 45 minutes. This is the company that I have been talking with the vice president. He just emailed me from his blackberry stating their email system has been down. Sooo, I'll try and weasle a good quote out of him. I'm guessing this is going to be even more expensive than the other company thought:(

GUYS! I just got off the phone with the other contact and....I can't believe the price quote! The quote is $20 a yard!!! This is awesome, and it is a direct digital print to the fabric. There is a $150 color match and fabric sample fee, but that is no problem. The vice president told me that I could have all 400-450 in hand in less than 3 weeks! The $20 a yard doesn't include the price of the base fabric, but he said that i could get it or he could. Alright, it also isn't ideal to print on 65-35 fabric because the cotton and polyester print processes are different. He said an 80-20 or 90-10 would be ideal. With that being said, I figured that cotton rich would be the best bet (80% cotton and 20% polyester), or would it be smarter to go with poly rich?? This one I don't know. He said that going poly rich would get me the fabric in probably 2 weeks. Lemme know what you think. I hope this draws the other guys back in...this is an amazing deal guys!

That is a great deal. Thanks for your hard work on this project.

I dunno but wouldn't poly-rich likely be more accurate? I mean aren't most men's dress shirts mostly poly? Or maybe that's only the ones I can afford to buy.:lol

Cotton will take dye, polyester won't. It'll tint, but not really pick it up so well.

If you print in cotton-rich white those who want it blue can throw some dye at it. Those who want it in white are already set.

Exactly what I was thinking. The movie fabric was a base white though it is hard for some guys to believe it. It is going to be printed on white shirting fabric. More than likely it will be cotton rich or 100% cotton. It will make the whole process a lot easier in my opinion. I'll be starting a new thread soon to actually take the orders. This thread along with the one at TDH are gettin crazy to keep records.

I just want this for my Joker mannequin too , so are you still going to do Finished shirts ? I would need one XL shirt :D

aljf:eek

You can count me in for certain for at least 3yards needed before Halloween. If I can call "shotgun" on your first run of yards, it would be a help because I am going to a local tailor to do most of my Joker costume and I want the shirt taken care of as soon as possible.Let me know!

this weekend I will be visiting tailors shopping for a price and finding out just how much I will need...

I'm still int erested in getting some. down for 1 or 2 shirts worth.

Can't wait to see this project done!

If everything goes as planned, now everyone will receive their fabric a couple weeks before Christmas! Production time is 2-3 weeks depending on the quality of the file, and I have someone MORE than capable working on it for us. Should be done by tonight or tomorrow.

I just got done talking with my fabric contact again. When I get the accurate price for the base fabric along with shipping, color match, swatch sample, and sooo on, I will create the new thread to take orders. I'm guessing the price will be $23-$25 a yard shipped. Also, most people will likely pay paypal sooo I need to compensate for paypal's fees. This is what I have estimated. If you buy 4 yards at $24, the total is $96. To compensate for paypal's fee every order must add $3 to the total. So the price for 4 yards shipped will be $99. I know $3 sounds stupid, but with 65-70 orders, losing $3 a pop is about $200 lost. Little bit of money for you...a BIG fee for me. Hope that isn't a problem...I can't imagine it being one. Thanks!

I'd definitely be interested in enough for at least one shirt.
I've already got a nice little lady seamstress lined up to put this bad boy
together :)
I can't wait to see this project finally come together, when will you start
taken payments for the orders?

I think I sort of figured out why there has been some confusion as to the base color of the shirt.Last night I finally got to check out Dark Knight at IMAX (and of course, I was paying close attention to the Joker's wardrobe). For the most part, as best as I could tell, the background of the shirt did look like it was white - however, in the interrogation scene, the background color clearly is not white at all.Since most of the reference pictures of the Joker's shirt come from this scene - and it being the only scene we really see him without his topcoat on, the color of the shirt in this scene really made us second-guess ourselves over and over. The reason for the color variation in this scene could be several. The persperation from Ledger's body could have made the fabric look darker, or perhaps the shirt he was wearing was an 'alternate' version made by the wardrobe department because it may have looked better for that scene where most of his shirt was shown. My IMAX is over an hours drive from my house, so I won't be making the trek back out, but if anyone wants to double-check my theory, go for it.Going with a white base fabric is the best solution, because like someone else said here, the shirt can always be lightly dyed to get a darker color.Let me know what you guys think....

I did IMAX last night too. My impression was it is a powder blue. Know how film works I would say it is a almost a periwinkle (if that makes sense) or even a light carolina blue. It umps out at you when they turn the lights on in the interrogation scene.

I am positive though that it is not white. (And besides, a white shirt would not fit in to the Jokers personality.)
