Joining the Nerd Herd!

I've decided after marathoning the second season of Chuck that I too will don the grey tie and pocket-protector of the elite Buy More Nerd Herd. Going to the mall tomorrow to find a pair of black Chuck Taylor high tops and a white short-sleeve dress shirt. Searching the internets for the correct style pocket protector, and have a lead on the thin grey necktie. Will post updates as I go along.

I think they are Pilot Brand I have them at my office wont be back in there till mon Pilot or Uni ball one of the 2 but then again I can be totally off

Stopped by Sears today and picked up the shirt and Chucks, so those are ready to go. The only dress belt I own has a black buckle, so I'll need to find the one that he's wearing to go with the outfit.

What size would you guys say his tie is? I'm having trouble narrowing down the correct size. I've been searching online under "skinny tie" but have come across a few different kinds.

I'd say it's a normal width tie. He just has it in a simple 'Four in Hand' knot that it cinched too tight, typical of a retail store employee. the tightness of the knot is curling the body of the tie. The end is obscured by his arms in the pics.

Picked up a tie today at Penny's, but it's silk so it's shiney, not entirely what I'm looking for but a close fit for now. Found one on Quartermaster that might fit the bill better. They don't have a picture up on the website but they do in their catalogue. Only kicker is that the shipping is more than the tie...

A big public thank you to Reel Fakes for hooking me up with his slick Nerd Herd ID's. They look fantastic!

All I have to do now is get the Buy More logo printed onto the pocket protector somehow, and I'll be all set. Does anyone know a good place to go to get a small logo printed onto vinyl for relatively cheap?

Might have the last piece of the puzzle ready by tomorrow, if everything falls into place I'll have finished costume pictures up by the end of the day :ninja

I think I've answered my own question. I spooked around on the internet last night and think I found at least two sources for the correct style pocket protectors. Has anyone else found them?

In addition I believe I've found the black "pen" on the left side of the pocket protector (when looking at Chuck). Has anyone else identified it?

The "Black pen" is actually a double ended pocket screwdriver set. I happened to already have one lying around from an electronics store when I started researching my costume.

The blue and black pens are now-discontinued Zebra Z-Grip gel pens that have a silver button, they've had their text and logos removed.

In other episodes Chuck is sometimes carrying a stainless steel "Parker Jotter" ballpoint pen.

I recreated the logo template from scratch in Illustrator, if anyone is interested in the PDF that I had sent to have dye-sub printed, just send me a message.

I was never able to find a opaque white pocket protector that had the clear front ID holder (they all tend to be fully clear nowadays). I found one that matched the back part of it, but had to fab my own sleeve. If anyone has located a seller with the id pocket, please let me know.

That's actually incorrect. It appears these pens were made by the same manufacturer, but the pens Chuck has are Foray, an Office Depot brand. They have recently changed the way the logo is etched to the clip, and are no longer accurate. Although the correct pens can still be found if you search.

Here's my current setup.

The correct pocket protector has been discontinued in white. It is only available in clear. I have found NO WHERE that has any of the white left in stock. Even the manufacturer. :cry
