Johnny Depp outta POTC 4!!

I knew about that but thought it was a rumor. Disney is not giving up yet tho. They are gonna do what they can. Without Depp, there is no POTC.

Thats odd, because working at Disney, they sent a memo saying the POTC filming might be pushed because of contract negotiations.

There is going to be a 4th one?

Why?

Didn't it end when that Lisa Bonet look-a-like got all big and ate the ship or something?

(Sorry...the third one made no sense to me.)

Dick Cook has been gone for awhile now so this is ancient news.

Agreed.

And a key word:

"may be calling it quits from the Pirates of The Caribbean franchise."

I'll believe it when I see it...

ON THE OTHER HAND...

I'd love to see a new, finely crafted and executed pirate film with all new characters and new filmmakers.

Wait, they're giving him 64 million to do one movie?? If that is actually true, SO not worth it. I like Johny Depp, I think he's a pretty good actor, but 64 million for what, 6 months of work??? Come on!

How much of a film's revenue is truly atttributable to s single star?

Without Depp, suppose the film would make $60 - $70 million less?

I honestly don't know...

You beat me to it. Since when is "May do something" news? I may win the MegaMillions jackpot.

Because they just gotta keep beating that horse till its dead.

Or, taking an optimistic view, they have to make a better movie than the incoherent mess that the 3rd one was, or the bloated "too much at once" miss the 2nd one was.

Frankly, I think the first is the best, because it's straightforward, it's a concise tale, and it's not needlessly packed with "stuff."

The same way Lucas beat Star Wars to within an inch of that horse'$ life.
The same way Spielberg beat Indy to with a few centimeters of that horse'$ life.
The same way Raimi beat Spiderman to within a few millimeters of that horse'$ life.
The same way X-men was beaten within a few millimeters of that same horse'$ life.
The same reason Superman was beaten within a few feet of that same horse'$ life.
The same reason the Army of Darkness universe was beaten within a few nano-meters of that same horse's life.

$ee the pattern? $$$$$

Absolutely agree. On both accounts.

I wish they'd do away with the supernatural. The skeletons were cool - and fit with the ride concept.

But DJ and The FishMen just never worked for me. The character design was silly, the story line was awkward - thw writers just started themselves down a path they couldn't back out of.
