Limited Run John Wick 2 - Tarasov industry card

jintosh,if you are going to redo the design do you think you could let the people who already have your original buy just a replacement sticker.we already have the plate?
The gold-to-black color shifting is complex. I'll have to layer different mediums to try and get this effect. It might be possible to offer a label alone.
(especially, as I've had trouble aligning labels, and some got out that were less than perfect)

When I come up with a prototype, I'll ask if people really want the color shifting. It looks like it might add significantly to the cost.

To my eye, the side with the chip is just shiny and matte gold. The apparent color shifting effect seems to just be the shiny gold reflecting ambient light.

Just seen the production made Tarasov industry cards, you prop is close but there are differences, just my two cents. Thank you.

Also, the card appears slightly smaller than 3x4.5. But the metal blanks I get are 3x5 and previous cards are 3x5, so I'd like to stay consistent with the type 1 card size I made originally. That way, new labels will still fit old cards. And, I really wouldn't like to try and cut down metal cards on my own. o_O

The first is an auction photo. The other 2 are screen shots from the film. The entire design simply appears as black in the screen shots.
If it was simply a gold reflective surface, the screen shots would be showing a reflection of their surroundings.
In the auction photo, you can also see the yellow label at the bottom has the (Russian) word for PRAX (presumably) and it is the gold surface. And in all the screen shots, the PRAX also looks black. Just a mildly reflective gold would be easier, certainly. What do you as my potential customers think ? Go with a straight up mildly reflective gold, or try so that at certain angles, it actually changes from gold to black ?

-----edit------

Maybe it never said, PRAX in the first place ? Maybe I was just seeing that, because I can't read Russian ?

Straight up gold is going to be easier, and that might be what we're looking at. The design in the movie just always appeared so black, that it's hard to get away from me trying to duplicate that.

I'm going with the GOLD.

i think the back looks the most different,i could live with the front.the front looks like the screen shot.don't get me wrong,if you don't do it jintosh i will not be throwing the one i have away.i was very happy with it till those fools at prop store tried to copy yours mate.;)

I’m still of the opinion that it is indeed reflective gold and what we see onscreen is just a reflection of the surroundings. That is why you can see his thumb. The rest looks black because the scenes are set at night and the surroundings are dark.

Also think the “PRAX” was always the Cyrillic letters, just hard to make out from the screen shots.

I’m also happy with the one I’ve got currently, but if there is a chance to make a more accurate one, I’m all in.

Out of curiosity, I just spent a while running ЯБЙЖ through various online translators and couldn’t find out what it means, if anything. Some translated it as simply the letters ABIG, others as YABYZH.

Not really important for this prop, but I was curious.

Yes, when Tuckinator and I were talking about this BEFORE the auction, I had pointed out to him that the thumb was reflected.
I think that indeed, it must be the reflective Gold. I have ordered some material, and hope to get at least a reasonably close match.

Keep the good work jintosh, you definitely did the best you could for your v1 considering the limited info available and you are ready to upgrade. I'm definitely down for one when it's ready ;)

I think the gold is going to look nice. Still waiting on the metal blanks. He was able to get to his new place and order the metal, then he'll cut them, then send them to me. So, it'll still be awhile.

In my "opinion"
The chip reader and at the bottom of the accesse code are a printed label you can see the hard edges, shadow and the step in this screen shot it was intended for a 2 second shot ....
So I think this card could be different from the prop store of London.....

Like I said just my opinion!
I could be wrong
The lighting and the screen grab looks as though....

Let me know everyone..

With that said still happy with what I have and if we can figure out a new design for a more accurate one I'll be down :)

The chip looks real to me but hard to tell i suppose, in the past i have dealt with a lot of smartcards/viewing cards etc and when the chips are off they are very thin, no idea about bank card chips but i assume they are similar, i agree the code at the bottom looks like a printed label but to me it appears the special effects team intended it that way.

I have added my own screenshot, probably not any better than the one posted by MANDINGALOW added tho.

P.s great work jintosh, 20 dollars delivered for your version is an absolute bargain i think.
