So during the lockdown I was at a standstill with my TIE Fighter, so I thought I'd start building my other favorite Star Wars ship, a studio scale Y-Wing. Unlike my TIE I'm 3D modeling a lot of my Y-Wing. I started with the head/cockpit, when I got that done I thought, why don't I build the Joe Johnston concept snow speeder too, since it is based off the head of a Y-Wing and I've always loved the design and idea. Pictures for those who don't know this ship.
I 3D modeled the head then added all the non standard Y-Wing parts. Rear bulkhead, engines, intakes, guns, two seat cockpit...
Some of the details don't mach exactly, I moved the front gun supports back and I rotated the rear cans on the guns so that they would be horizontal and not angled.
I had a friend print the body on a Form 3.
The rest I printed on my Anycubic Photon Mono. I then body-shopped everything and molded all the parts. Resin won't last over time and I had a couple friends who wanted one.
My Y-Wing as it stands now, have to finish my TIE before I go any further on the Y.
And on to the Snow Speeder. Most parts, except for the guns, are on temporarily. I'm just waiting on paint and a friend to wire up the LEDs for the engines.
