WHEW!
I think Im high as a KITE now from all the paint fumes :)

The Bluefive idol has been a worl in progress for a few days, Ive been taking my time on the paint. i started with a gloss black base coat over the primer and then the gold is the Premium gold foil paint. Probably some of the best metallic paint ive dealt with... you can see your reflection in it!
The base is a styrofoam disk that i put "cracks" in and painted to look like stone.... its sorta temporary, might do something else with it later.

The Jmtwo Tablet was pretty good project too. I used picture wire on the back that allows it to hang. I didnt want to fill in the back because i liked its hollow light weight.
It was painted using Jmtwo's dry rub method as well as misting MANY different colors on it.... tan, green, brown, grey, black etc.... lots of layers to get the right effect and then finished with a flat clear that gives it a real stone like look.

Heres a shot of um together:

Looks superb! Very nicely displayed! How about some closeups of the idol? Who makes the gold spray?

Awesome. How about a closeup of the idol to see the finish? I really want to put glass eyes in mine, but it looks to be difficult to get in there to attach them.

Man, that is awesome!

I've got one of those idols too (unpainted).

Did you use Gigatron's method as described here?: http://therpf.com/showthread.php?t=43498&highlight=indy

No, its Krylon Premium Gold Foil Metallic spray paint.
i bought it at hobby lobby and when its spray on over gloss black, it gives a VERY convincing gold look. closest to a metal in paint i have seen. it does NOT look like a bright plated gold, but for $4 a can on a resin Idol, it aint too bad.

Id like to find a good resin Ra Headpiece.... anyone have any suggestions?

i got a resin Ra headpeice from a RPFer, repainted it and have a new little "corner" going on...

thoughts?

Resin Ra Headpeice

That RA headpiece looks like the one Marion had in the bar. I haven't seen that version before. Nice!

well its SUPER thick so im giving nothing to it for accuracy for for a resin headpeice the detail is ok.

I had two requirements when i was "shopping" for a headpeice:

#1: Cheap
#2: Good enough..

and it works

yeah, I was just thinking that's a strange looking headpiece.....never seen it's like B4.

The whole ensemble looks really nice and very tasteful mate. Well done:)

Oh BTW...that Highlander collection under the glass is AWESOME!!! Care to make a seperate thread or some more pics and show it off for addicts like myself? Pretty please??????:angel

yeh.... weird headpeice.... eh, i just couldnt justify spending $100 or so on a dust collector.... its ok..... enough that its recognizable...

Highlander collection? what highlander collection? hmmm are you sure its not just a funny reflection? :)

Great collection man! I'm hoping I can get one of those tablets sometime too...
I really like the headpiece! Gotta find me one with your 2 requirments as well....

It was primed lightly, i didnt put ALOT of primer on... didnt worry about nooks and crannies...
then Krylon Gloss black paint was applied in several coats until a pretty smooth layer was on...
then i used Krylon Premium Gold Foil Metallic spray paint which i got from Hobby Lobby.
and did MANY fine thin coats with it until i got the desired effect.

whats nice about these paints is that they are fast drying.
None of this was an incredibly difficult process, just time consuming waiting for each coat to dry.

its an enamel paint, i found it at the hobby store..... "model masters" I think is the brand... kinda like Testors...
the silver is "silver chrime" and the blue was called "pontiac engine blue" or something like that
