Jedi Holocron: Prototype for a run Summer 09

Hey all, I'm new member here, I'm a major sci-fi fan and am a passionate collector. Being in college though has its drawbacks, namely in the financial area, so I can't brag about anything special and have to make due with what I can afford :rolleyes.

I do though (with my limited skills) succeed in making a Jedi Holocron this past Christmas break.

It consists of two photo cubes (3.5" and 2") with transparent images applied on each. I was able to make a circuit with two alternately flashing green LEDs on a 555 timer with an ON/OFF switch built into the circuit also.

If I were to do a run of these over the summer, would anyone be interested?
I am trying to find the brightest LED's, these make the holocron look like a flickering candle at night, I was hoping to make a light source more visible in the day.

That looks pretty sweet; thanks for sharing the pics. :thumbsup As for a run, I don't know if I would be down, as it would depend on funds at the time.

Do you happen to have any shots of it in the dark? I'd love to see the light-up feature. :cool

My camera has only 3 Megapixels, so anything I shot would pretty much look like crap. But it does look awesome!


Anyone know where to buy high quality bright LEDs? The ones I have now work pretty well, but could definitely be replaced for daytime use.

Digikey my friend. Shouldn't be too hard to find (I think they're called ultra bright, or uv or something). Pretty available.

Try getting a Luxeon LED. Those are ridiculously bright.
