Jayne's Vera from Firefly

This is something I have been working on for a bit now, and I thought I would share my progress. Most of my references came from A Callahan Fullbore Autolock Replica Project and from the companion books. Screen shots only helped so much.



I carved the main body from MDF using a router and a Dremel tool. A lot of the parts are made from PVC or plexiglass, an old curtain rod and sculpey.




I am now at the stage where there is a TON of Bondo.

I managed to mix the paint well enough to get the blue steel look, but the lilac colored aluminum is proving problematic. I'm hoping to do an opaque metallic coat over it. It's supposed to be pretty subtle.

Done. I think next time I try something like this, it will be with layers of thin mdf, more of an additive than subtractive process. But overall, I'm pretty happy with it.
