JAWS- Hoopers shark tracker prop info and discussion

Helpful thread :)...any chance someone can give me a lead on a proper SDU or someone looking to sell theirs ;) ?

Looked around with no luck :( ...any help would be great...thanks guys.

First time I've seen this thread, but it's great stuff. I'd love to add one of these to my shelf. None on eBay atm, but I'll keep an eye out...

Are the stickers still available?

To those who have pm'd me about a cap; I'll make a silicone mold and make a few casts this week. No charge, but you'll have to drill out the back of the cast to fit your tracker and paint it. Pm me your address and I'll make a list.

Cheers

Al

Also I have a Word document with the sticker on it. You just need to purchase a sheet of silver sticker materiasl. I recommend doing it on a laser Jet printer, the ink jet ink did not adhere well to the media. Send me an E-mail address and I will send it as an attachment. I didn't see a way to attach a document here.

Just got in my two SDU 5/E's I found on a military site last week, screen accurate...all orange and dated 1972 and 1973. They just need the caps and stickers and they will be perfect!

Plus my biggest score ever came today aswell.... my Jaws production barrel from the Murphy's ...what better way to display a SDU Shark Tracker :)...right guys !!!

Neo-Flasher in N. Hollywood, CA, they shopped local I am guessing... =)

Looks like I found guy with the old lights and the battery with the orange cap.

How many are interested in one of these I maybe can put a few together? We are prob looking at $80-$100 ea for them. But keep in mind this is stuff you will not find very easy! I just happen to know guy after 20 years in the Navy that might have some this old stuff!

If you want just the orange tipped battery those are $45.00

Anyone know the treading type or size on the flashers battery compartment? I'd like to look into having a brass cap made and possibly a battery holder that will make the correct contacts but use standard button batteries..

btw, BIG thanks to Frank for the lead on the SDU, and the image for the label. I did a quick one with my home computer and I'm happy with it. But I might try the sign shop here to see if he can get it a little more clear.. I used Avery label paper printed the image, stuck it over brushed steel sign vinyl and plopped it on.. The Avery paper is kind of foggy so it loses a bit of the metal color. If the sign shop can do em in a clearer top layer I'll grab a bunch.

:confused ahhhh they already make these conversion to use with (2) CR123 batteries... $15.00, they have for YEARS... SDU-5/E Battery Adapter 5BA

You however will want to round off the inner brass point on the inside well of the strobe light so it does NOT puncture the bottom CR123 battery since this is what it was designed to do to the original obsolete BA-1574/U Mercury battery seal for contact.

Thanks Stitch! I had no idea, but yeah that's exactly what I was thinking.

Any tips on the easiest way to round the contact point inside the SDU?

Np... here to help! I worked on the stupid things for almost half my career in the Navy... They make great stun gun to zap the hell out of your friends. It involves copper wire, a push broom and some scotch tape. :angel

Ya I would use like long metal rod maybe large allen wrench and tap top with hammer just enough to get rid the SHARP point you still want decent contact put together ALL the way and then take them out to see what kind hole its putting in the battery... Repeat if needed... :thumbsup
