I was using a similar card for a magic routine and to get the feel of a playing card I used spray lacquer. The stuff you spray over paint!! Worked a treat

Sorry I didnt reply before this. Torn hamstring took my eye off the ball. No it works fine, just build it up in a number of fine misted layers and the jobs a gudden.
