jack sparrow hat

am i the only one who has noticed these holes on the right side? because on everybodys hat there is no holes

I think there's supposed to be another leather "X" like the one below it, but it's missing, leaving the holes.

^^^Pretty much what firefly said. Its actually a continuity error throughout the movie. Sometimes the 'X' appears again do to different hats being used. Granted im going off of memory though

It is called a "mess up" or a "mistake" by the costume/prop dept. Many things were messed up throughout the movie but you had to watch closely to see them all.

The tricorn is just one example in which the holes were punched into the leather and had to be be redone without remaking the entire hat.

Aye, that be true. I actually got to see one of the real deal screen used hats this weekend and it actually has both sets of holes punched into it. It is an interesting flaw to be sure and I actually considered adding it to my own hat, but we'll see. Not sure if it's worth it yet. Same with that little extension they had to add for Jack's second belt. So on and so fourth.

and yeah its probably a mistake

but i like them
so if i go to make a leather hat (which i plan to oneday) id add them ^^
