anyone interested in doing some feature film intern work here in Los Angeles for the month of September feel free to PM here on the RPF.

Its a small film, some faces and names you will know. That means no freaking out, geeking out and all around no general stalking on set. This is unpaid on set during filming work but lunch and such is taken care of. You would be doing various tasks in various depts but help in props and set dressing comes first.

If you want to help build sets, learn green screen, practical special effects, pyro, stunts and air rams/mortars, how props are handled on set, forget you have to pee for hours on end while trying to remember the last time you had more than minutes of sleep, PM me.

You MUST Have your own transportation and want to learn. Those that stand around the craft service table eating M&Ms and Slim Jims are already aboard so those positions are taken. You must have a valid ID and agree to sign a non disclosure agreement.

Unfortunately I think I may be too swamped to take you up on the offer as well. I'd love to do it though. Would it be a weekends thing, or more like every day for a week?

if I lived there I'd be there to work on that in a heartbeat, just to be helping and learning would be invaluable to get some hands on experience and maybe do more as time permits.:thumbsup

You already answered the first question, here's the others I have to ask: What's the pay? Is travel expenses covered? Is it a union or non-union job?

Those are all covered in the first post:

"This is unpaid on set during filming work but lunch and such is taken care of."

You are interning, after all.

"You MUST Have your own transportation..."

It's a rare intern who gets expenses.

"Those that stand around the craft service table eating M&Ms and Slim Jims are already aboard so those positions are taken."

Sounds union. :lol

Sorry about that, I sorta skimmed it.

And I also am sorry about the questions. It's just something my teacher from producing class informed us to ask whenever someone contacts us with a job offer.

This is more for someone who wants to learn.

CB,
I think your teacher is 100% correct and be wary of craigslist postings for gigs. Im not saying they are all scams, some are. Never send personal info online, sign paperwork in person at a studio or office..., all that jazz. Most craigslist offerings are for dirt work, make sure there are M&M's and make sure the coffee is hot.... Just not the position to learn.

Im here on my own in the position to give back and help people enter the industry who either do not know how or who simply dont care to make sure the M&M's are full and the coffee is hot. Only thing you need sign for the production is a none disclosure agreement and show a valid ID to verify your not a ghost/on the FBI ten most wanted list/an ex boy band member...

Of course if you have a total babe, hot sister, I wont hold it against you :love

True. And I completely understand. I'm still getting used to asking the questions. I wish I were in L.A. to do it, but I'm in Florida, and I'm planning on sticking around a bit to save up some cash (especially since in 6 months, I've got student loans I've got to start paying off).

Dang, it's too bad it's not just a couple weeks earlier. With my school schedule there's no way I'll be able to do it. Hopefully next time.

Sounds interesting, and I'm between jobs at the moment with plenty of free time, and no pressing need for pay.

I've been thinking about branching out of the game developer biz, and this might be right up my alley. I'm certainly no stranger to big $ productions, celebs, NDAs, or long hours.

Don't have a sister, though. :unsure

Rob, where would the majority of the work take place? It sounds really interesting.
