Pics of your builds please!
No 1/72 AT-AT I’m aware of. Ages ago, there were ads for a big one from Dragon, but that’s vanished into the ether.
In the meantime, the 1/144 Bandai one is very nice. Worth a look!

Nice work, your models look great.
1/144 AT-AT looks like it has a lot great detail from what I've seen, I will definitely pick one up, hopefully at some point Bandai will release a 1/72.
Here's a link to where I posted some photos of the Falcon, it could probably use some more work but I'm pleased with it for my first big model.

Bandai 1/72 PG Millennium Falcon (also the Revell Germany rebox)
So I want to avoid lacquer as much as possible so I’ll pass on the Mr. I’ll experiment with the Vallejo stuff I have and see how durable it is. That said, are you guys priming parts on the sprue or after you’ve assembled the model? Pros and cons? Seems like you might get better coverage but at...www.therpf.com
Thanks
Thanks I'll check it outNot a model, but the Star Wars Miniatures AT-AT is very close to 1/72 I believe.

The Revell AT-AT is pretty close if not spot on for 1/72. A lot of people claim it as 1/53, but I think that is wrong. It is close in size to the gaming mini posted, however, that gaming min can be quite expensive even in the second hand market
Based on a 22.5 meter AT-AT as well as upsizing from the Bandai 1/144, the Revell one really is very close to 1/72
The downside though, it needs some work. mainly in the sides of head area near the back since it is missing the armor plate. There is other things wrong with it, but all of them are fixable.
Personally I think as a quick fix, you can get away with just adding the armor plates, and replacing the side guns and you will have a nice display piece. If you're striving for 100% accuracy, you have a lot more work ahead, but I was happy with those two simple fixes in addition to replaing the raised panel lines on the body with scribed lines

For now, apart from scratchbuilding, it is your best bet

If you would like more size comparison pics with other 1/72 stuff I can post some with the whole 1/72 collection
Thanks, I had no idea about the different scales in the movie, guess I didn't pay too much attention. I was just looking to keep it the same scale as my falcon, x-wing and the y-wing I've ordered....I've had this discussion about the AT-AT before when it comes to it's size. It varies so much, and I think it's a matter of opinion, mostly based on what you personally use as reference: It's feet crushing Luke's snowspeeder, Luke using the harpoon thing to ascend underneath, or Snowspeeders flying between the legs and even Luke coming out the side door on Endor...they all lead to massively different sizes. If I remember correctly, I think I personally found the Revell to be really close to 1/72...
Like I said before I've only built a couple of models but it'd be fun to learn some new skills and techniques, basically they're all new to me hahaha, any advice on what I should read up on? or terms I should know? The Revell released AT-AT is a good challenged for a scale modeller. And I have learned few scale modelling skills while doing this project. Its still unfinished coz I haven't gotten around on doing the flexible neck housing... yet. The only part I didn't scratch build is the chin gun. That part I asked Tony from Shapeways to help me 3d print them.
Oh man. 3D Printer. That is so much easier. Since you got a 3d printer. Get a Bandai AT-AT and use that as a reference for accurizing the Revell AT-AT. You can easily scale things up using your software. When I started doing mine, there's only pictures online that I use as a reference.
Don't get overwhelmed on what you about to see. Just think of it as a learning experience. Scale modelling takes a lot of patience when doing one. Coz the process is where the fun is.
