I'd skirt it by saying nautilus submarines or nautilus replicas. But I'm a wuss like that.

Awesome pic and a great collection.

That's a lot of money too! I love a good Nautilus and boy do you have the jackpot :)

Man, I wish I had gotten one of the 50th Anniversary subs when I had the chance to pre-order one.

Do you have one of the X-Plus models?

Excellent collection, sir! I'm looking forward to more pictures--I'm especially curious to see the finish on the 5 footer in more detail.

I just don’t have a steady enough hand for that type of model building, but very nice all the same. Sure would look very nice at my place.

At 15" that would fit nicely between the ornament and the 50th Anniversary. :)

Here is another pic, I'll get to the closeups tomorrow.

the efx nautilus's paintjob is really top notch, it really captures the look of the 11 footer. I prefer the color over the MR one for sure.

Yeah, I will concede that there is a dose of "collectoritis" in my desire to knab one of the 50th Anniversary models, mixed with a bit of regret for not getting in on something that has turned out to be quite the collectible, when I had the chance (story of my life). However, I'm also intrigued by its subtle differences to the Key/Small models that have been the standard for so long.

I think it was a combination of size and price that lead me to avoid it in the first place in favor of the larger MR boat.

Here are some more pics... the color is very hard to nail down correctly because it changes somewhat dramatically depending on lighting, shadows, and angles (without professional equipment of course :)).

I am Admin over at the NautilusSubmarine.com site, and we have agreed that the proper plural term is Nautili. "Nautiluses" is far too many letters!

Well that beats the ornament as the smallest Nautilus! :lol

Seriously though, where did that come from?

It's a pain because of the very bright lights on the outside of the portal. I will mask those off tonight and see if I can get some better pictures of the rest of the interior.

You know they say size doesn't matter, but I'd almost rather have the EFX over the 50th Anniversary.

Re: Is it Nautiluses or Nautili? - When referring to the Disney Nautilus - Neither.

The Vulcania Volunteers have also discussed this question at length & the plural of Nautilus pertaining to the species is Nautili, but in the case of a Proper Name of the Nautilus in a group or collection - the plural would simply be Nautilus. And in my opinion there's only One Nautilus!

Glad you like your display model, Montagar.

Re: the efx display replica - I personally don't think the Best Nautilus model or replica has been made yet, but the 50th is by far one of better ones & Bob of Nautilus Drydocks is one the best Nautilus 'builders' that I've seen to date, ...above & below the water

As far as the grammatical correctness of the word, either is correct. While the original word Nautilus comes from the Greek word 'nautilos', the correct plural would be Nautiloi due to common rules of pluralizing Greek. However, in the mid-18th century when a grammatical movement to make english less irregular, and more like latin, words derived from Greek were given the standard '-us' ending thus making the plural Nautilus into 'Nautili'. However, once a word enters english it becomes an english word, thus having an english plural added and we get 'Nautiluses'.

So Nautiloi, Nautili, or Nautiluses are all, in fact, correct and so depends on personal preference.

Aside from that, that is an AWESOME collection of seafaring vessels. :D

Regarding the collection - what he said.

Aside from that - Greek, grammatical correctness of the 'word' & personal preference aside:
whenever referring to the creature / cephalopod family Nautilidae, the previous reply is most definitely correct,
however, ...when referring to the name of the submarine boat - Nautilus - & when refering to more than one Nautilus replica - Nautiloi, Nautili, or Nautiluses are in fact incorrect.

Whenever a title or proper name is changed it is merely being misspelled.
