I’m hooked on Iron Man Hot Toys and I have a neat concept that will require 9-13 of the Hot Toys Hall of Armor Bays, but it’s going to take me a looong time to get enough Hot Toys figures to fill all those bays so I came up with a contest

The contestants had to choose from a list of 5 versions I posted. I sent them a Titan Figure and they had till yesterday to finish.

The winner gets a Trophy and $50 Cash and I have the option to buy back all of the entries for $25.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Figure will be Auctioned off on ebay with all of the proceeds (minus the ebay fee) going directly to A Breast Cancer Foundation Charity

Okay maybe this will help , here is my build process for my Stealth:

I was trying to go with the comic book version of the new stealth suit:


First off I took the figure apart by cutting off his arm and legs (horrifying I know) then I primed it first with flat black


Then a shot of silver to give me a nice metal finish to work off of.



I got some flat grey paint (thinned down with water and painted over 2 coats) to get a light metal look as you can see here


I used a bright blue to trace out the power lines on the armor as well.

But looking at what I had done so far the grey was not dark enough to get the look I was going for, so I wiped it in thinned out black paint. That gave me the color I was looking for


Now to finish up and see what it looked like put together


Now the final part, I wanted to get the blue lines to glow but I couldn't get a good wash to give me that effect. My wife suggested glow in the dark paint and you know what, it worked. The blue parts have a greenish glow if you hold them under a florecent light bulb for a few minutes and it looks very cool... the only probably is, that it's not enough light to get a good picture of it so you have to see it person to appreciate it. Anyways, after putting the glow in the dark paint on the blue lines I sealed the whole piece with some clear coat and *tada* Done!

Well let me start by saying this is an absolutely brilliant idea, and I had a blast doing it. I don't know how many times I walked right by these Titan figures without giving them so much as a second thought, and now I'm finding more and more remixes I would like to try out. So thanks to Boba Debt for destroying my free time, while sparing my wallet

I was surprised to find that I wasn't alone in the middle of the Venn diagram for Iron Man and Steelers fans. Not a lot of overlap, I'm sure, but I jumped at the chance to take a stab at this figure, because at some point, I would love to make the suit and wear it to a game (yeah I'm that guy).

So the most time consuming aspect of this was actually the Terrible Towel that I 3D printed. I go over that process in the build thread, so I wont get into too much, other than to say that it was a pain, but I'm pleased that I finally got the thing to work. Initially there was an idea of printing out a football-style face mask for the Titan as well, which may still yet get done, not for this contest though. I totally ran out of time.

I am going to go ahead and again post in this thread the same disclaimer that I put in the build thread: I did not paint the team logos on the helmet or the lapel, those are store bought decals. Technically they are officially licensed nail tattoos... which is a concept that is beyond me, but they were the right size!

Not a Steeler's fan, but I'm going to have to go with that rendition, I really like the addition of the Terrible Towel and the location shots are ace.

On such a popular forum as this, I'm surprised there aren't options to post a pure poll with voting buttons and such... pretty crazy.

I've never done something like this before but as I"m an avid Star Wars fan who spends some weekends dressed up as Darth Vader I couldn't resist the temptation when Boba Debt said he thought about adding a Fett version to the contest.

I didn't take make photos of the process, which, I know is a big 'no-no' on the RPF, since I know how much I like to see the process that goes into things and I think I am not alone in that, hahah.

Basically I disassembled it like detailed in the original thread and started sanding. Once it was all sanded down rough and I could start priming it I was lucky enough to have some sunny days where I could hit it with the primer for 3-4 coats.

A few parts of the mask and legs needed to be redone because the gold paint originally used was having a chemical reaction to the primer and started to liquefy. So I had to sand the gold completely off and reprime that area.

Once the priming was done I went to the 501st legions CRL for Boba Fett costumes and started from there.

I wanted to go for a rough, weathered, beat up Fett. Just like the costume is in the films. Plus since the Iron Fett is made from metal and not cloth and armor like Boba Fett is, I added the metallic weathering from where he had gotten into countless battles, been drug across the dirt, slammed into a building, been shot, and all sorts of mayhem that Fett can get into.

I wanted to add all of the biggest visual references from Fett to this Iron Fett, but I decided to stop at the cape and wookie braids. I think they ultimately would have really made some good final touches but alas, they aren't there.

However, I did make sure to add some other big queues that you can see, I added the aluminum view finder, that actually moves! I added in the LED 'name tag' on his chest and the logo on his chest. Also in the screen used armor, he had a few bullet dents, one on his chest and one on his helmet. So I made sure to break out the dremel and add these features into it, then filled the hole with silver and black to weather it and give some depth to it.

All in all, I had a blast finishing this up and when it was all done, I said to myself.. 'wow, this turned out really nice!' which came as a bit of a surprise to me that it worked out so good.

Hey guys!

I was a rogue entry and had to come up with my own theme. When Boba Debt put up this thread, I was in the middle of a nostalgia play through of the original 8 bit Legend of Zelda. So while still on this kick, I figured I would try and do up an Iron Man that had the feel of Link, while still looking bad-ass... which is kinda tough...

I haven't really painted anything other than my living room, but after seeing some of the projects on this site, and knowing what I would like to do down the line, I figured this would be a good learning experience. It was! I learned how paint will get on everything I own, whether I cover it with newspaper or not.

So here's my slapped together paint shop.

I am lucky enough to be born with no sense of smell, so I was happy to do all my painting inside our small apartment (Vancouver, Canada is cold, wet and miserable right now). My wife and kid hated this box, and their complaining about the smell meant only working after they all went to bed at night.

I had orignally planned on going with green, white, brown and yellow for the armor, but I figured it was a little to "on the nose". So I decided to simplify the color scheme and add in the stand out thing about the original game... the gold color from the cartridge.

After working out the colors, I made sure the three pieces of the Triforce were incorporated. 1 on the chest, and 1 on each gauntlet.

They are made of painted alluminum...My wife caught me cutting the pieces out with her good scissors. Another thing I learned - apparently all scissors are not equal.

Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out. And with this I have finished my first painted project since I completely destroyed a space shuttle model when I was 11.
