Iron Man/Rocketeer mash up-first build

Hi guys
This is my first attempt at any kind of costume. I am combining the Iron Man Bleeding Edge armor with the Rocketeer costume. I plan on doing this in foam and pretty much free hand. Suggestions and tips are, of course, welcome. I am nervous and excited about this project. I will post pics as I go.
 
I saw this some time ago, maybe it helps.
It has a more unique Design as the most steampunkish Armors. ^^

Okay, so I do actually have a somewhat small tip.
Make sure that when you combine the elements of the two suits that it all stays one theme. You're either going to want to go with an all steampunk look or an all futuristic/robotic/scifi look. If I were you, i would stick with a very similar Rocketeer design for the helmet and then make the Iron Man portions of the suit very steampunk looking.
 
My plan is to keep the Rocketeer helmet and add an iron man face plate. As for the armor, the buttons on the jacket will become "rivets" and the rocket pack will be integrated into the armor. The coloring, which I hope will look good, is essentially the Rocketeer costume, leather brown, khaki, and black for the boots.

If you stick with that idea, this will turn out AMAZING!

Very good advice. I would draw out what you envision it to be and see it it "flows" the way you are intending it to.
 
I had my brother and one of my more artistically inclined friends draw out what my idea is and it flows pretty well. I just hope I can translate it to the real world.
 
Alright guys. I'm having trouble getting started. I want to start with the arms and hands but all my templates are coming out weird. I'm asking for any suggestions. I've already looked and there are no pep files for bleeding edge armor. Any ideas. Thanks in advance.
 
Alright I am back and ready to really get working on this thing. Had some issues I had to take care of. Still can't figure out how to get the the hands to come out right. Just trial and error I guess. Pics will follow soon.
 
Ok really back this time. Decided to go pepakura route for the helmet anyway.
