This is a project that I have been working on, on and off for the past year and I am finally getting around to putting things together. Firstly I was lucky to get in on Clintons early run for his MarkIII helmet kit, this is without doubt one of the nicest fan made props I have ever worked on, little to no cleanup, all the parts line up nicely and its as accurate as they come.
As with the War Machine helmet I recently sold I wanted to build the helmet so it can be taken apart like the originals, I decided to fit rare earth magnets into the parts. I started with a pack of 30 - 5mm magnets, they are super small but give a good hold. Once my parts were lined up and I was happy with the fit I drilled the locating holes for the magnets, worked the size with wet and dry paper for a good tight fit, then to secure them I added a small blob of filler underneath and then dropped the magnets in, it may sound simple but it took a long time but highly worth it, the photos below show the helmet after I had spaced out the chin and fiberglassed it on and fitted all magnets before priming for a test fit.
