Iron Man Mk3 for four yr old

This is my first build. I know there are a ton of Iron Men threads out here but i think it turned out pretty good and i was proud of what i was able to do for him. I had to do some tweaking of files due to his size. Cutting completed parts and regluing. Mainly the COD and Thighs. I have been procrastinating and lurking for a while feeling overwhelmed on where to start until I asked my 4 year old asked what he wanted to be for Halloween. Of course he chose Iron Man. He loves the Avengers Iron Man in particular. I used Dancin_Fools Mk3 files unfolded by JFCustom.

I would like to thank Indiefilmgeek for giving me the inspiration for this build, Dancin_Fool, JFCustom, Stealth, DocHoliday78, Imim2, Helagak, and Xrobots and all of the other great builds out there for all of the tips and motivations.

Since i had limited time with work and other things and he would only be able to wear it for a few months before outgrowing it I skipped some of the details. Of course i made the mistake of starting with the helmet but i do not think it ended up to badly.

I pretty much followed the standard formula for the suits except i coated mine with Sunsout Puzzle preserver to seal and then a layer of Stryospray 1000 using xrobots method, Adhesion promoter then paint. The Strospray worked well but creased with inward flex. May be in part to the puzzle preserver used to seal. I would not recommend the sunsout without plastic coating because it was prone to cracking by itself. Though it was not a problem when plastic coated. I could bend in half with little to no crease of paint or stryospray when bending normally but a reverse bend cause some creasing. I used a 10.00 ironman costume undersuit and just used that for his abs as well. His hands were ironman gloves from target and added a couple of lights from basspro shops to the gloves.

There were a few parts i made but would not fit with the sizing of his costume or comfort to wear. I made hip pods which did not fit well and he kept tripping in the boots so we left them off. Here are a couple of pictures. The first night he wore it his shoulders would not stay on. Glue failure. The next night he wore it they stayed on and made the suit much better looking after adding some velcro. He thought he was so cool. He added the whirring noises as walked. He even walked differantly.

Thanks everyone that helped me make this a reality for him. Next up is a Captain America Shield for Myself, converted disguise Thor Hammer and then on to a custom project.

Thanks. Getting close to the end i was getting worried he wouldn't want to wear it because of it being cumbersome.

He was popular. Everyone wanted to take their picture with him. He was like whats going on here. Everyone kept poking his chest piece. He didn't place in the costume contest to a kid that's mom worked at the place that hosted the event. She was wearing a Tutu and butterfly wings (store bought). My wife got really upset because she knew how much i had worked on it. I was a little bummed but Mainly because there were lots better costumes than that one not just my sons. I was just thrilled he loved it.
