Iron Man - Face Plate

Having watched the movie again now after buying it, and remembering my thought on it in the theater. The scene where tony holds up the face plate which has the writing, which I'm assuming is design changes while listening to the news, I thought that face plate would be a cool prop to have. Not sure if anyone has thought of that or not or even wanted to do one.

im working on one of those right now
god bless pepakura
are you going to have the writing
all over it like he hasd or clean like the finished article

Ahhh that was a smart way of makingh the prop... Notice it consist of 2 shells. There outter armor faceplate and the inner plexiglas faceplate.
They just lay on top of each other overlapping sculpted into eachother.
Making me belive that its a posiblility that some of the details are stickers in between the shells.

If you look on disc 2 it has some of the artwork on there and has a drawing for the inside of the mask.

Sorry for my off topic post reply:$

I want to do one of these and add the writing on as well, does anyone with the fancy HD versions of this flick have some good screen shots we could use? I don't expect to ever get it screen accurate with the writing (without an exact source) but it would be cool to give it the same look.:thumbsup

No worries guys, it was just a reminder. :)

Some higher res shots would definitely help a lot. Can anyone pull caps at 1080p?

looks like this will be a fun project, i cant wait to start scratch building the inside. too many projects

Hey guys, I'm working on the faceplate as well.
Here you can see some pics:

But I didn't plan anything for the inside...
Also, thanks for the screen grabs, those are awesome!

What a great idea for a prop ! I´m just at this moment "watching" the movie again (and probably again tomorrow). A helmet and the face plate might be a great combo to display.

...

AAAAAhhhhh. Why not just say 'papercraft'. Sorry just a pet peeve. Back to topic.

Becaaaaauuse ...

the PROGRAM widely used to make paper models from a 3D model is called "Pepakura" and that is what he is mainly referring to ! "Papercraft" is just the general term for making something out of paper by using a printed-on cutout template ;)

Juuust a pet peeve :p ;) Why ? Because Pepakura (the program) really offers a whole lot to model makers. Spreading the word can´t do any harm.

Yeah yeah. I know the software (iron man) made by TamaSoft, blah blah. :p Smartie-pants. :lol

:lol Program = no problems, just fine, :thumbsup. (iron man) Using the term 'pepakura' to describe the actual craft just comes of sounding like those kids that are into anime and use Japanese romanized words instead of just using the english word the Japanese romanized to begin with just too sound all savvy, you know? (iron man)

It reminds me of all the fanboys that insisted on using the term 'otaku' to describe themselves as fans, while in Japan the term 'otaku' has some seriously bad connotations to it. (iron man)

I tried to keep on topic by randomly inserting the words 'iron man'. I hope that does it. :confused

When I cut my helmet to do the hinge, I have a great faceplate to work with and have thought of doing a stand alone version, perhaps to mount on the wall. That'd be cool. Don't know much about the inside detail though. Would anyone like to colaborate?
