Iron Man 3

Thoughts about the MKII the Iron Patriot and the MKVIII.

MKII In IM2 when Pepper was CEO remember her telephone conversation when Tony visited her in the office? "We still maintain the rights to the MKII" Now we know Rhodey took the MKII/War Machine armor at the end, however Stark International has to have some pretty high power lawyers, so the return of the MKII might be onerus but not impossible.

The Iron Patriot and the MKVIII since it seems the Iron Patriot armor is very similar to the MKVIII isn't it possible that one of the conditions to Tony getting the MKII back was to replace it with a newer more capable armor as the MKII had an Icing problem?

So possibly what we are calling the MKVIII isn't really the MKVIII, but a different type meant for the US Gov similar to the Guardsman suits, and what we are referring to as the MKVIII is merely a testbed for Tony, which is why the colors are so off from the standard Red/Gold we have been seeing in the past.

Thoughts? Disagreements?

its the suit that attaches itself to tony, with parts flying through the air, because it was shown in the trailer at sdcc
so unless stark gives away his best tech, its not a giveaway suit, but it might just be a extremis prototype (which is my guess)

IMO, I like the muted gold. It seems a lot more realistic for desert stealth missions, like what kind of happened in IM1.

Yeah, I don't think flying into the middle of an enemy compound, landing in the patented ground-pount pose and then wrecking the place with the repulsors qualifies as "stealth."

I am on the fence about the overall look, but I did get to stare at it for a while. I am liking it. I can also tell you that this is higher than the Mark X

I have not seen as much controversy over an iron man suit since Marvel put a nose on the face plate.:lol

The more suits, the better. I like variety. I don't care if he has a Burberry pattern on one.

Iron Man/TonyStark is my favorite comic character. I think the Iron Man movies are the best comic movies and expect the trend to continue. The success of Avengers was built on the greatness of the first Iron Man. Bring on the Mandarin and whatever suit Tony wants to wear this time out!

^This.

I personally dig the suit. I like breaks from tradition. It's brazen and totally Tony Stark's public image. Plus, for all we know, this suit may not even be IN the movie for the first half of the movie. If the trend continues, there should be some overlap of the old suit to the new suit anyways. IM1 had three Iron Man suits, IM2 had three Iron Man suits, Avengers had two (?) suits, so I'm expecting we'll get at least two suits for this movie.

The only thing that I'm kind of disappointed in is that the helmet has essentially remained unchanged. I know the details change, but there should be some fundamental design change that makes it unique per suit. After all, for the most part, the helmets of the comic suits tended to change significantly Even if it's just rounding out the eyes or changing the size of his "widow's peak." But then, I also understand that Marvel probably wants to maintain some consistently-identifiable portion of the suit for branding/merchandising purposes, and they could probably roll that back into the in-universe character as well. So while I'm disappointed that the helmet is essentially unchanged, I can live with it because I see the need for it to stay the same. Overall, I love the bold gold look. :D

Possible trailer spoiler from Ain’t It Cool News

"It opens with a voice over of Tony Stark talking about how the events of New York (I’m assuming the Avenger Movie) changed him, and how he’s just not “into it” anymore. First scene is Iron Man with battle damage, laying down amid rubble and taking of his faceplate to show a bleeding Stark. Scenes of him arguing with Pepper Potts in the armory (cool shots of alternative Iron Man suits including the red white and blue one we’ve seen on your site already), press conferences, Tony looking solemn, Tony talking with someone who looks like a psychiatrist, and a short shot of Don Cheadle in military uniform (no War Machine in the preview). Also one scene of who I presume is the Mandarin, forcefully landing and cracking the ground. However, it looked like a silver Iron Man. I was unable to tell in the brief view who it was (maybe due to unfinished CGI).

We then get a voice over from Ben Kingsley, talking about how there there are no heroes and how he will teach everyone, especially Stark, a lesson. This is over scenes of the alternative Suits getting blown up, Stark going into surgery, and a fleet of helicopters launching missiles which blow Stark’s home up and apart (the CGI looked nearly finished) and sending Stark and Pepper into the sea below. Then a close up of Kingsley with no helmet in the Mandarin armor.

It ends with Iron man underwater swimming towards what looks like his “heart reactor thing”. Then the logo, then stark walking in the snow dragging a large bag, then the logo again.

All and all, a somber trailer, dark and humorless, which seemed more in tone with The Dark Knight Rises than with any of the other Iron Man movies or the Avengers."

I like the sound of this:thumbsup. I hope they still put some humor in it though.
