Ink Stamps on Canvas...

Hey all,

Whats a good way to accomplish military-style ink markings like the above?

I've always thought rubber stamps would be the way to go, but I know nothing about ink and most of the markings I've seen are pretty hardy.
I've occasionally seen things like quartermasters stamps on eBay, but they are pretty steep.

Any insight into what a good approach would be?
Where to find the proper resources?

Something like Indian ink is very permanent, so as a guess I'd expect it would be fine for your needs and you should find it in any art shops. You can get it in different colours too, but as with most inks expect black to be the hardiest.

Speedball sells slabs of stamp making rubber that you carve as well as inks and paints.
Linoleum is an an alternative or stencil and paint.
