I have a cheap big box store toy bracelet that has a truly amazingly bright set of flashing (inset) gems, a very brilliant LED is beneath each and such flicker in a random sequence. Just a thought but perhaps that concept applied to your project might bring quite a brilliantly bright conclusion !

Craftastic World: Faux Gemstones (Fantasy Bling)
I imagine this could be done with any glass gemstones, but seems to give a really nice color. Since you'll be needing to make mounts for them anyway you could make them out of plumbers epoxy or sculpey, mask off the stone, and paint them gold.
I'm actually planning on doing a gauntlet myself at some point and I think I'm going to use heat-formed plastic from a rubbermaid tote for smaller detailing, and plumbers epoxy for the stone mounts. It'll be important to situate them in such a way that they don't have to flex, but rather sit on the top of your hand on the flat spot just above your actual knuckle.
Come to think of it, it may not be a horrible idea to mount some flat led's under the stones. You could get a strip of flat led's and a cheap sequencer and mount the sequencer inside the gauntlet. I may do that, but I think I'd rather just have a show-piece. I'm still trying to decide what to use for my base glove.

I actually have 4 more colors (2 more blue and 2 more greens) and was going to let the board help me choose which ones to use.
Since Marvel's official wiki said the size of the gems were approximately one inch in length, I went with the 25" x 18mm cabochons. I also bought some of the 40mm x 30mm but they seemed too big and I could not find many colors.

Ooo those are very nice. Might just have to look into that instead. As much as I like the swirling effects from the fabricated ones, those are pretty dead on.
From Left to Right
Row 1: 1st stone for mind, 3rd stone for soul, 5th for reality
Row 2: 1st stone for time, 3rd stone for power
On a side note you could use Row 1 Stone 6 for the Ego gem as an accessory prop.

Actually, i just found the cabochons in the same size as above (25x18 mm) Only thing is, they have to be bought in bulk, and each order can only come in one color...so i'll have to get enough for 24 sets. I only want 3 sets, so i'm putting an interest thread up in the junkyard for anyone who wants one of the extra 21 sets. $5 a set +shipping.
WOW 21 extra sets? The place I got only made you have to buy them in groups of 12.

Well I started out with 12 of each color and just sold 3 sets and I'm definitely keeping 3. Someone else asked me about 5 sets and I said I'd sell him 3 for now. I guess the best thing to do is put an interest thread and poll up in the junkya... I mean marketplace and maybe see if people want full sets of 16 colors so they can pick their own 6 or maybe poll which are the best colors and just sell sets of 6. Opinions?
These guys are pretty cheap so my offer of $2 a set plus shipping still stands, not looking to profit off these. Let me know what you think and I'll have pics up soon of all the colors.
