Howdy folks! Been a while since I've posted anything worth posting. I've been busy lately thinking up projects to work on using my new favorite material, styrene foam (the same stuff I use for my Ra Headpiece stands and Fertility Idol economy pedestals). Here's what I've been up to:
First up, I'm thinking of doing a series of different wall relief "face" pieces of my own design, but in a style that would look right at home in an Indy prop collection as a background piece, or to complement the collection. It's also wall mountable. I've worked on one already before but I'm not all that happy with the results (it was mostly for practice). Here's a rough design sketch of my new and improved version:
Here's the completed piece:
It's roughly 10-12 inches tall.
Next is something more versatile and generic, in that it could be used for any prop, figure, or even non-Indy items... a rocky desert cliff-face diorama.
I just recently completed a first sculpt of it the other night. The temple ruins are loose pieces that can be removed. Here it is in its unpainted stage.
Lastly is a sankara stone display stand. I'm toying with the idea of making two different designs, one based on the wall shrine in the village, the other based on the ones in the kali temple (where Indy got whipped). I'm hoping to make both wall mountable.
Here's a sketch of the village-style version:
The more sinister kali temple version:
I've begun the first prototypes and are turning out pretty well. Stay tuned for pictures of those.
