In between saber projects, I machined a top.

:D Howdy, all.

I finished one saber up the other day, and had a nice big chunk of aluminum left over, and decided to use my new radius attachment to make a top.

It took me about 3 hours on my lathe, but I really like how it ended up looking.

It also helps to do lil things like this between major saber or other builds so I can further familiarize myself with my tools. I think my saber making just got a lot more fun.

Now the next saber I build is going to have some sweet organic curves to it, I am thinking the emitter will look like the engine cowl of a ww2 bomber or something.. some compound curve accents to contrast with the harder geometric shapes I usually do.

Once I get a local machine shop here to replicate it to my satisfaction, and it's not enormously expensive for the setup costs, I'll be ordering a few dozen. If anyone is interested, let me know. Also, if anyone has any comments or suggestions, feel free to share those as well.

Thanks.

Thanks man. I really enjoyed this project. It almost makes me want to quit my day job to pursue this kind of thing.
