Not trying to stir the pot, here, but has anyone stopped to realize that one big honking reason we even HAVE those "lax gun laws" over here that someone mentioned...............is BECAUSE of the "great British Empire"? "Minute Men" ring a bell? Just trying to point out that we don't both have the same history, therefore not the same common ground, therefore not the same rationalizations. :unsure

Thanks for that picture, Tommin.:) Freedom from tyrrany, like the Virginia emblem says.

You guys got independance over 200 years ago - but you still blaming us? :lol :lol :lol

I understand your point that the gun is seen by many as part of who you are. Its cool that there's still this belief that the people could revolt against a government if it so wished - even if in reality they no longer could. However maybe the downside of this "right" is reflected in the murder rate, and that some people feel they need to own a gun just to defend themselves?

Cheers

Jez

Actually, US citizens DO have the right to own fully automatic weapons.
There is a special background check for machinegun purchasers
and some states have banned private ownership.
There is a mis-perception that Americans live in a state of paranoia.
I would contend that that refers more to people who watch too much news.
The gun owners I know are a pretty content and secure lot.
I own some WWII firearms that are perceived as scary by a number of people, but usually only those living by commonly held perceptions rather than any actual facts.

We could debate back and forth all day but MY bottom line is:
If you want to live in a society where your government hands freedoms down to you; fine.
Allow me to live where firearms ownership is written as a fundamental human right, for I maintain that all other rights spring from the ability of citizens to defend them.

Far as "brandishing" firearms (real or replica) in public;
only an idiot would advocate that.
Making a video or shooting still pictures where no one feels threatened, on the other hand sounds like budget Hollywood or art to me.
Not grounds for police invasion.

Debating whether the US citizens should have access to guns is pointless - they do - and I dont think any of us would say we see that changing in our life times. There must be other topics we can discuss that will bring more harmony to the forum ?- like Religion or AA/SDS. :D

OK - PLEASE - someone post a pic of a fully laiden HK416 - perferably held by an well oiled bikini clad service woman. NOTE: I prefer Wicked Weasel beachwear. None of these heavy clothed Bikinis they sell to Nuns...

Now what was this thread about again???...is it stupid to carry guns/Samurai Swords/dead bodies wrapped in carpets/walk naked or eat KFC in public ? The answer is yes.

How's this one?

That's rubbish, she's clearly not qualified to handle the M41a, she has a finger resting dangerously on the trigger, she's holding the grenade launcher pump incorrectly, she's not taking advantage of the USCM tactical sling and worst of all she isn't even wearing standard issue USCM armour fer crissake.

England is by far a worse place when it comes to the rights of It citizens. They want to ban kitchen knives and they want to ban swords and the like in Scotland.Thank God I'm in the USA. :cheers :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup Thanks

Now if she was to go out in public limping down your street like this she`d be asking to get into trouble by the local law.

At least this ones movie related...

Yes - it's far better in North Korea, Iran, China.

Wish I lived there.

Oh boohoo, I can't get shot up by my neighbour in a petty disagreement..

I can think of far worse places to live in terms of human rights and I do not feel in anyway oppressed in terms of what I want to do and think. i.e. I am quite content on not needing to own a firearm and nor do I desire to own one either.

Oh and great pics Tommin.
