Hello All,
Geez a member for 5 mins, and already my third post - apoligies for being so excited, but after 4 months of waiting to register, i have got so much to talk about.

I put spolier on the thread as it may show images and discussions of the bust that some members may not want to see / read about the unpacking of the bust etc -Is this the correct thing to do?????

Anyway, the 1:1 sonny bust - As you may of read in a previous post of mine, i have the bust sitting in an unopened box - The wife has bought me it as a christmas present, so i cannot open until the 25th !!!!

But i have already had a few questions, so i thought i would start a new thread to discuss the Sonny Bust - Sorry if you have all been through this in the past - but it might be nice to have a refresher discussion on the bust - with new members and all.

Anyway, HUGE i,Robot fan, and this Bust for the money looks to be a very worthwhile purchase.
I stumbled across this very interesting website, which gives a load of information, a review, and progress pictures of the box being unpacked. As well as shots of the bust itself - some of us may of seen this website before, perhaps this chap is a member?
There is also some other nice reviews on there!

Is it ok to post a direct link to the website? Obviously being new i dont want to start breaking rules already!! Please let me know and i shall edit the thread.

So for those of us who are lucky enough to have this bust, what do we all think of it?
Thanks very much - looking forward to discussing

Gordy

welcome to the board, i picked one of these busts up when they were released. for the money they are well worth it.

its probably one of those items i would never sell. the biggest dissapointment i have with it is the plastic chest/neck area.

it is a solid white-ish plastic and doesnt match the head which is more transluant. they are suppose to be the same but because they had to use that area for storing the dvds it probably looked too messy if you could see the internals??

the other area where i feel lets it down are the eyes, very cheap looking but i have to remember its not a prop replica, its a dvd storage case so what do you expect.

since your a big fan im sure you will love it.i still do.

as for not wanting to break any rules.....go ahead, everyone else is :)

cheers

z

*edit - if you look at my sig pic i did a run of ns-4 robot heads (red and white one). if your interested i might have some pics somewhere.

Hi Zorg,
You are totally right, i think we have to accept the fact that these are essentialy dvd cases, and made for a market, where owners may not be 'prop collectors' and wouldn't be as picky as a person who buys specific props and replicas.
That said i think this is a very nice display piece, bit dissapointed with the whole positronic brain reveal, from the pictures i have saw, however again i have to remind myself - Its not a detailed prop replica.
I am looking really forward to opening, it does look fantastic.

Your NS4 head looks great, can you post up some piccies? Would love to see a couple of angle shots.
I think this will be my next build project. I was very excited when i read popbox are releasing the NS4 in march next year, but then i found out that they are 1:2 scale. So i'll just make one. Would love some advice about going about it, if you would be so kind.

Thanks - Gordy

Oh how much do those NS/5 1:1 go for? Cuz I've seen the 1:2 goes for 120-150$

Well the one i have bought here in the UK was £100
Not sure about US prices.

The 1:2 scales can be found on ebay - i recently bought two from ebay US, and i can honestly say that the ebayer i dealt with was the nicest guy i have ever bought from, and i have been a user for 6 - 8 years.
You can pick these up for $40 - buy it now.
If you would like the ebay details of this seller, please PM me, and i shall let you know.

Many Thanks
Gordy

Aaaaah.....I didnt realise it was the dvd set Gordon. Yeah Ive had the Japanese release of this since it was released (Im an ex-limited edition dvd head) and it still takes pride of place in my collection but Ive always wished someone would release a full on, more accurate 1:1 Sonny bust made with better materials so I could replace it......I'm more of a collectibles / props head these days!!!)

here u go gordon.

WOW, :eek they are great Zorg - Bravo Sir

I would never in a million years of thought of having a Fed-Ex paint job, just brilliant. Now thats what i call thinking outside of the box!!!
It looks excellent!!
The weathering is fanstastic, it really brings the piece to life (so to speak!!)

So what made you choose this particular design?

Why do you have two? is one for me?:lol

thanks,

i choose this because i liked the design, very simplistic and stylish.
and also at the time there were no i-robot heads available . i actually finished it before the film was released in the u.k.

there are 2 because they were orders, they are long gone now.

i kept a red and white one for myself. still have the molds somewhere.

cheers

Well Zorg, if you ever do a run of these, then keep me in mind. A raw casting would suit me down to the ground. It would save me a load of time!!
