I killed Captain Picard

Yup, Patrick Stewart came to my house... It was a struggle but I managed to clone him and them cut him in half. A few gallons of embalming liquids, a little bit of wax and Tadaaaa! life size picard displays.

Okay- don't worry trekies - picard is not dead - but I am happy to present two lifesized picard busts, one borg and one regular. (a silicone lifesized picard is coming sometime next week - so I"ll have three picards soon... ridiculous, i know)..

anyways. the borg picard was made by a guy here named Korbanth (Randy). Many of you know him, I"m sure, and he offered this borg picard in the junkyard at one point. The sculpt is pretty damn amazing. It really does look like Picard as you can see, and Korbanth was a pleasure dealing with.

Korbanth also managed to fix up and paint my regular looking picard head. Originally it looked very very pale and the eyes were just stickers. But he dremeled out the eyes for me, gave me prosthetic real looking eyes which match Patrick stewart's real eyes.... and did an amazing paint job on Picard making him look extremely life like.

I was extremely surprised when I opened up the box in the office, with every new bust I get - you never know what you're going to get.. In this case, I was completely blown away by the amazing job that Randy did on both busts.

Setup wasn't difficult - i got a mannequin torso - cut off the head, hollowed it out a little bit, stuck a 1 and a half inch pvc pipe into the body - and stuck the head onto the pvc pipe. The torso was a little skinny so I broadened the shoulders with some foam I had lying around.. and then after the shoulders were broadened out - I realized that his boobs looked a little small so I used some foam to pad that area out as well. (those of you who collect or make these lifesized busts know just how strange it feels to cut off heads, dress up mannequins and padd out boobies.... it's kinda creeeepy.. good thing Im secure in my masculinity. haha)

Either way. .more pedestals are on the way and I'm ordering some fake eyebrows that will make regular picard even more realistic. I'm slowly getting set up for my little star trek corner which will one day feature Rel's Enterprises. Woo hoo!.

Anyways. enjoy the pics.

I am Locutus of Borg Resistence is Futile you will now service us.

Nice job on both of them. I've got to say I loved Best of Both Worlds. It's still one of my favorite episodes in the TNG series.

Those look great Thomas! I especially like Locutus. I really can't wait to see you complete that one and display it on a pedestal.

I find myself equally captivated by the backgrounds in these photos. Lots of cool looking stuff there!

Glad you like it...I have talented friends who do help me out alot, and dont forget to get a high collared black shirt for Locutus so his nasty neck injury is covered up where the Borg did crazy operations on him. I also would love to see the laser pointer installed on his side, and if you discover a way to turn the pointer on, where you dont have to hold it, would be great to know how.

Glad it came out good...I will offer the casting here for those who like it, in either finished or kit form...

Here's the junkyard thread if anyone is interested and of course you can contact Korbanth directly - he posted in this thread too. But The Junkyard has pictures of Locutus that are in sunlight and I think they capture the subtle paint job that Korbanth did that really makes locutus' skin look like it has depth... as if nanoprobes are swimming right under his skin.

I am working on a way to keep the laser on without pushing the button - I think i'll be using a wire clamp - one that can be loosened or tightened and "squeeze" the button. It may even double as a holder for the laser. I gotta take a trip to Home Depot to figure something out.

I was trying to put a tshirt on him yesterday - But I was sooo tired last night when I was doing laundry I accidentally put bleach in the dark load- thus making the tshirt that I wanted to use come out looking like a purplish cow... sigh..

Thank you all for the support and positive comments. I'll post more pics after these guys are on pedestals -I get a tshirt on locutus and I get that laser installed.

We are the borg, you will be assimilated into the collective, resistance is futile.

or as Picard would say - "the line must be drawn here!"

By the way, for those who know Neal Tracey, he painted them both.

Wow, so life like it's eerie. The TNG tunic really sets off the regular Picard. Who made it?

Wes

Actually i just pulled that one off ebay - off a guy who nearly didn't ship the damn thing to me. It took me a long time to find one - just by looking at pictures on ebay that had an accurate cut and accurate trimmings.

Things to look out for is the cut - especially the shoulders - They have to be fairly broad and not droopy like those mass produced costumes.. and if you're really nitpicky look for elastic around the waist - also look for red trim around the neck line.

The most important thing for the overall look is the seperation between the red and the black - in pictures and even in person - people don't normally look for "red trim" or fine details such as that - but the shoulder line has to be straight that'll give picard or your own displays (or yourselves) a more defined look as your shoulders will look more broad.

Compare my uniform to say - this one on ebay - the shoulders make all the difference.

Oh and Neal painted these?!?!??!?!!?! No wonder!!

For those who don't know - Neal is a great bust painter. I actually, luckily, managed to grab another piece of Neal's work, a superman bust.... as you can see - Neal does a spectacular job on these... Never got to talk to Neal in person - but I'm a fan for life. Is he on this board? If not - say "hi" for me

IMHO, those are outstanding!

However, and maybe just to me mind you, the iris' of the Picard eyes look too big (kinda got the sad puppy dog look lol), and the eyebrows could be darker...

for comparison...

Like I said, just my observation, your mileage may vary... :cool

Not to sidetrack this thread but that Blade is all sorts of AWESOME!

Superman looks oddly familiar though! :lol

(Inside joke there ...)
