I just Raiders of the Lost Ark on the 'big' screen at my new favorite MPLS theater.!

I have finally seen all of the Indiana Jones movies on the big screen in a proper theater, which is one last thing I wanted to do before I die.

I saw it here in Minneapolis at the Trylon Microcinema as part of a summer Spielberg retrospective. Trylon Microcinema is exactly what it sounds like: a tiny movie theater. It's about 1/10 th the size of an actual movie theater, but the sound system is dolby and the movie was shown on (an albeit well-worn) 35 mm print.

The ticket cost me $8, which is about 2 dollars cheaper than any other theater. The popcorn with real butter was $2 and soda and candy were $1. Taxes were included in the pricing. I might be able to take my wife to see Jaws this weekend for $20 or so. No commercials, but they did show the original E.T. teaser trailer and a vintage 'pitch-in your trash' PSA.

If you are in Minneapolis, I highly urge you to check out the theater.

Another cool part of seeing Raiders was the dad and kid sitting next to us hadn't seen the movie before. Every stunt, fight, and joke was absolutely new to him. I can't wait until I can take my kids to see a classic at this theater again.

My first thought (other than being jealous): How old are you!? ;)

A big congrats. I caught it at the Ziegfeld in NYC, my favorite theater (it's where I hope to go when I die) two or so years ago. It was glorious.

Now you need to go the opposite route and see it at an IMAX theater. I was fortunate enough to see it twice many years ago at the IMAX here in Chicago and the sound reverberation is so incredible that they literally ruffled some of the clothing I had on. The print wasn't too great as the one currently making the rounds but it was a great experience. As always with this film, audience participation makes the experience that much more rewarding.

I'm 27. I didn't see ROTLA or TOD during the original theatrical releases. I did see Last Crusade and the Crystal Skull during the original release. I was lucky enough to catch Temple of Doom during a midnight movie at a theater a few years back.

Now, I just need to see Tron and Blade Runner on the big screen.

With Legacy coming out, someone has to be planning a TRON double feature.

Congratulations man. The only thing better than seeing Raiders on the big screen? Seeing Raiders, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade and Raiders: The Adaptation on the big screen back-to-back! That's what they're doing this coming Saturday at a movie theater in Ottawa, Ontario near where I live. It's about an hour or so away from me, and I've been waiting for a good opportunity to go check the place out...looks like this'll be it! http://mayfairtheatre.ca/
