I am Apocalypse!

Hey all,
I had a few minutes free from my hectic work schedule so I thought I would start up a thread for my build of Apocalypse from the Marvel universe.
I know there are a lot of different variations in the comics of Apocalypse, each artist gives us his own take. Plus in the animated Xmen tv series' so I figure I want to stay close to the 90's Fox version but if I happen to stray a bit I'm ok with it. Here is a screen cap, obviously I won't be making him this tall.

I first started with his head.

This was my first attempt at sculpting anything! I'm happy with the outcome. Next was mold and cast!

Next step is work on torso... I've been told numerous times to "have a sketch" lol well I'm way to impatient for that!
So I took a duct tape dummy and threw a hikers backpack on it. Unfortunately I didn't snap a pic of the dummy with the pack on so .....sorry.
I attached some 1/2" plastic conduit to the frame of the pack to get a structure base. Then numerous cans of expanding foam later I'm here.... 10404380_10154355068825006_7430397098721987216_n.jpg10354811_10154355068830006_2306632800802204494_n.jpg
This is REALLY rough. My plan is to cover it all in worbla then make all the details. Its a long process but I'm trying to have it done for ECEE in September. I'll post more pics as I progress. Thanks for checking it out.

How can that be your first sculpture? It's fantastic! Seriously nice work, good proportions and details. I think that's the iconic Apocalypse version as well.

hahaha Thanks Kosko. Before this hadn't touched clay since I was playing with playdoh in school.

You have a knack for it.I don't mean to toot your horn too much though, there's still plenty to for you to learn and practice. If I'm trying to be really picky, I would recommend trying to get those extended lip lines a little more even and consistent through the whole face. I really like the nose and brow. The scowl on his face is nearly frightening.
